Chapter 12
To clear my name, Vivienne was the only and most important witness on my side.
There was no surveillance where Caroline pushed her down the stairs. Caroline was terrified at the time and quickly ran to find her brothers for help. I just happened to pass by that day and was caught on camera.
So they pinned the incident on me, designing it seamlessly–1 became the “perfect scapegoat.”
Looking at Vivienne’s colorless face as she lay in the hospital bed, I took a pill from my pocket and placed it in her mouth.
A few minutes later, I walked out of the ward.
“Miss.” Maxwell was already waiting outside, respectfully nodding to me.
I didn’t stop walking, continuing straight ahead while thinking: To survive in this world, the first thing I needed was money.
Although I could make money by treating patients, that required patients to come to me first. How many difficult cases could there be? I couldn’t very well make people half–dead just so they’d come to me for treatment.
Moreover, as a witch, I had my own principles–I wouldn’t treat every illness or save every person.
So I found Maxwell and had him arrange a job where I could make money quickly.
“This is what you call a job where I can make money quickly?” I looked at the casting notice and script in my hands, raising an eyebrow.
Maxwell nodded frantically, “Nothing makes money faster than working in the entertainment industry!”
“Then I’ll trouble Maxwell to arrange it for me.” I smiled slightly.
Maxwell looked even more excited than I was, “Yes, Miss Hazel!”
The next day, on the way to the film crew, my phone suddenly rang–an unknown number.
As soon as I answered, I heard Silver Moon Pack’s Alpha Caden roaring: “Hazel, get back here! You’ve got some nerve, haven’t you? Now you’re even becoming someone’s mistress? How can you be so despicable at your age!”
From the other end, Silver Moon Pack’s Luna Mary’s voice followed: “Have you no shame! You’ve disgraced Silver Moon Pack completely! If Caroline hadn’t told us, we’d still be in the dark!”
“I’m telling you, this is your last chance to return to Silver Moon Pack. Otherwise, we’ll never acknowledge you again!”
I frowned slightly, my tone cold: “If there’s something wrong with your brains, I suggest you see a doctor instead of having episodes w..
I paused, my voice dropping: “What, don’t you know that according to the Alpha King’s latest laws, harboring criminals and fabricating evidence results in banishment from the pack?”
The other end of the phone instantly fell silent.
The entire world seemed to have been muted.
They were like someone had suddenly grabbed their throats–they no longer dared to roar arrogantly.
“Hazel… you have to understand Mom and Dad in this matter.”
Although Caden’s tone was much lower, that controlling desire couldn’t be hidden: “You and Caroline are sisters too. At times like this, you should step forward. Didn’t we say we’d compensate you when you got out? Why must you be so rebellious?”
I scoffed after hearing this: “Aren’t you afraid the Moon Goddess will punish you for saying such things?”
