I got out of the car and walked into the film studio.
Maxwell had gotten me a spot for an on site audition. This role was a female doctor–though there weren’t many scenes, there were highlight moments, making it a suitable entry opportunity.
The atmosphere at the audition was tense, and the director’s patience was nearly worn out: “Next!”
As soon as I walked in, the crew members all looked exhausted, and actresses were coming out of the audition room looking dejected.
A staff member glanced at me with a cold attitude: “You’re here to audition too, right? Change clothes over there.”
Just as he finished speaking, two people suddenly walked through the door.
The staff member immediately changed his expression, running over with a big smile, practically ignoring me completely.
“Mr. Ellington, Miss Caroline, this way please.”
“I’m here to audition. May I use my own styling?” Caroline’s voice was sweet.
“Of course,” the staff member said humbly, “The director is right over there. You can go directly when you’re ready.”
George Ellington smiled ingratiatingly beside her: “Caroline, don’t worry, this role is definitely yours. Your eldest brother and I are both investors in this production. I’ve already spoken to them in advance.”
Caroline lowered her head with feigned modesty: “Oh, I hope I can get in based on my abilities. I wouldn’t want people saying I got into the crew through connections.”
George lovingly touched her hair: “Of course you’ll get in based on ability.”
Seeing this scene, I frowned.
One was someone I used to like most, the other was someone I currently wanted to slap at any moment.
I had liked George, really liked him.
He was the only person at school who had made my heart flutter. Back then, I was always bullied, and it was his occasional help that first made me feel someone was willing to stand on my side.
I remember during that time, I thought about him every day and even wrote a love letter.
Later, that letter was posted on the school bulletin board, becoming a laughingstock for the entire school.
I also got a nickname because of it: George’s maid.
Even so, I still liked him wholeheartedly.
Until one day, I saw George and Caroline kissing with my own eyes and overheard their conversation, finally understanding: that letter was made public at Caroline’s instigation, and George was just playing along with her act.
I was nothing more than their plaything.
This incident was also discovered by Silver Moon Pack’s brothers. In their eyes, I became a mistress trying to interfere with their sister’s relationship, earning me a string of verbal abuse.
Even my biological parents thought I was disgraceful and never publicly acknowledged that I was their daughter who had been switched at birth.
Under George’s coaxing, Caroline smiled sweetly and then went to do her makeup with her stylist.

Chapter 13
My original audition order was also pushed back.
With so many people in the crew, Caroline didn’t notice me at first.
From these people’s attitudes toward her, it was clear that Silver Moon Pack and George had paved the way for her quite a bit over the past two years.
When she came out after styling, the attention on set was indeed drawn to her.
The director had been waiting impatiently. Only then did Caroline walk out slowly in high heels, wearing a white coat she had specially altered to be more revealing.
She was feeling proud when her gaze fell on me, and her entire expression darkened.
“What are you doing here?”
George also noticed me, his expression changing as well, his tone carrying disgust: “You’re out?”
