Chapter 30
“Hello, miss. May I have the pleasure of making your acquaintance?”
I looked up when I heard this voice.
Standing before me was a man in a high–end ash–gray suit, wearing rimless glasses, with an elegant temperament and handsomely proportioned features. He nodded slightly, perfectly polite and proper.
He looked young, probably around twenty–five.
“Hello.” I also nodded politely.
Handsome men and beautiful women were always pleasing to the eye, especially this one–he wasn’t an ordinary Alpha. This was Joseph, a noble heir from the wolf packs near Moonlight City, reportedly always proud and low–key, rarely taking the initiative to socialize.
Yet today, he had approached me.
“My name is Joseph.” He spoke with a gentle smile, his gaze steadily focused on my face.
His approach immediately deterred the surrounding young Alphas who had originally wanted to come chat, making the atmosphere subtly tense.
Before I could speak, a familiar and irritating voice interrupted.
“Hazel, what are you doing here?”
I turned to see Caroline walking toward me, followed by two little princesses she got along well with. As expected, she never missed any opportunity to step on me in public.
Joseph’s brow furrowed slightly, clearly noticing the commotion.
Caroline quickly changed to a smiling face when addressing him: “Mr. Williams, I’m sorry, she’s my former classmate. I just came over to say hello when I saw her. I didn’t mean to disturb you.”
Her smile was as fake as always, while Joseph’s gaze only lingered on her for a second before returning to me.
Her expression stiffened slightly, but she quickly recovered, moving close to me and speaking in a suppressed voice that was deliberately loud enough for others to hear:
“This isn’t a place you should be. Don’t you see what your status is? If people find out you’re being kept, they’ll just laugh at you. Everyone here consists of proper Lunas and noble princesses.”
Her words sounded as if she was looking out for me, but I knew she was just trying to trample me into the mud in front of everyone, to completely crush me.
I chuckled softly, looking at her face masked with false kindness, my tone slow and disdainful:
“I find it strange.” I raised the corner of my mouth slightly, “No matter where I appear, you can always sniff me out and find
