Chapter 121: Taking Him Piece by Piece
Perry’s Perspective
Tracking Phoebe’s scent was no easy task. Reginald had thrown her into a car, effectively masking her trail and making it nearly impossible to follow. It took me a painstaking amount of time and effort to finally zero in on the exact location where that bastard was keeping my mate captive.
At least they hadn’t crossed the border yet.
They were holed up in some rundown motel, far enough from Rosa’s place to avoid immediate detection. I stayed in my beast form, my heightened senses locked tightly onto Phoebe’s intoxicating scent that lingered in the stale motel air.
She was definitely here.
Through the mindlink, I reached out to my ten warriors who had trailed me silently. Our numbers matched Reginald’s exactly—he couldn’t afford to bring a large force into enemy territory without risking exposure.
From what I could observe, Reginald was completely distracted, oblivious to the death that was closing in on him.
By the time he realized what was happening, it was already too late. A fierce howl shattered the quiet night, signaling the start of the attack.
“Shit!” Reginald cursed, springing to his feet and roughly shaking Lynn awake.
The young healer had been sleeping on the floor beside Phoebe’s bed, her body curled up in exhaustion. Her eyes snapped open, wide and terrified as she took in Reginald’s fierce expression.
“Get to the car!” Reginald barked, ordering his warriors to hold the line while he scooped Phoebe into his arms and dashed toward the parking lot.
“My sister…” Lynn’s thoughts were consumed by fear as the sounds of battle echoed in the distance. She instinctively tried to turn back, desperate to find her sibling, but no warriors followed them, and her sister was nowhere in sight.
Suddenly, Reginald’s hand shot out, grabbing a brutal handful of Lynn’s hair and yanking her face close to his. “Get. To. The. Car. NOW!” he growled.
Terrified beyond words, Lynn’s bladder betrayed her, releasing from sheer panic.
She nodded frantically, stumbling alongside Reginald as they hurried toward the vehicle.
I could see pure panic etched across her face.
I watched as Reginald shoved Phoebe into the backseat and ordered Lynn to climb in beside her. His disgust at Lynn’s trembling, soiled state was clear, but his priorities lay elsewhere. Sliding behind the wheel, he was ready to make a break for it—
Before he could react, I ripped the driver’s door clean off its hinges and yanked Reginald onto the asphalt.
His skull slammed hard against the pavement, blood gushing freely from the gash. He curled into a protective ball just as my next strike landed, claws tearing down his spine.
“Arrghh!” Reginald’s scream tore through the night air as my talons shredded his shirt and carved four deep furrows into his back.
Before he could even catch his breath, I drove my foot hard into his groin. The impact sent him convulsing violently, his ragged breaths desperate and shallow.
