Marked By The Mad King Alpha (Phoebe and Perry) novel Chapter 200

**TITLE: His Mercy Tastes Like Hunger**
**Chapter 200**
**The Cost Of Desire**

Fiona felt as though she was floating, her body light and ethereal, disconnected from the heavy reality that surrounded her. Each step was more like a drift than a walk, her mind retreating to a distant corner of her consciousness, far removed from the sympathetic glances of those around her and the gentle, yet anxious, touches of Reginald.

How had everything unraveled so completely?

Perhaps it all began when she had urged her father to join the Movement, a decision driven by her longing to be close to Reginald. For years, she had nurtured feelings for him, and when neither of them found their destined mate, she had taken it as a sign that fate intended for them to be together.

Her infatuation had blossomed in her childhood.

The first time she laid eyes on him was during her father’s visit to the Obsidian Claw pack. Reginald, the stepson of beta Cameron, had arrived with his stepsister, an air of indifference masking the sadness that lingered in his deep-set eyes. She could still picture the moment vividly—Kevin, the alpha’s son, had lashed out at him, and Fiona had felt her heart race with a mix of fear and admiration.

Reginald’s eyes had burned with a fierce, almost murderous intensity, yet he had managed to hold back, to restrain the storm brewing within him.

Later, when Kevin had turned his cruel taunts toward Fiona, it was Reginald who had stepped in. “You should think twice before mocking the child of an alpha,” he had warned Kevin, his voice low but filled with authority. “I’ll have a word with alpha Sterling if you don’t back off.”

Kevin had recoiled, the threat hanging heavily in the air.

Reginald might have dismissed that moment from his memory, but for Fiona, it had etched itself into her heart, a permanent reminder of the love that had begun to bloom that day.

Yet now, that love felt inadequate against the hollow ache that consumed her. It couldn’t erase the torment of losing everything due to her own selfish desires.

She had convinced her father to alter the course of their pack’s destiny, to join the Movement and rebel against the king—all for the sake of her own yearning to be with Reginald.

“I’m so selfish. I never should have done it. I should never have done it,” Fiona whispered, the weight of her words heavy with regret.

She thought she was only voicing her thoughts to herself, but her mutterings had echoed throughout their journey, drawing pitying glances from the other warriors.

“Look at what I’ve become. What did I actually gain? Nothing! I lost everything I ever wanted. I’ve lost it all,” she lamented, her voice cracking under the strain of her emotions.

Annick, her friend, regarded her with compassionate eyes, the soft warmth of her gaze offering a flicker of comfort. “You haven’t lost everything, dear Fiona. You still have your mate, your child, and your pack members. Together, we can rebuild,” she spoke gently, her tone soothing.

“Child?”

Fiona’s gaze snapped to Annick’s, her heart racing as she looked down at her flat stomach. The memory was hazy, a fog she had tried desperately to forget, but her body was a traitor to her mind.

She could still remember Allen’s hands on her, the intimacy they had shared, and the crushing realization that she was carrying his child, not Reginald’s.

Annick kept bringing up the pregnancy, mistakenly believing Reginald was the father, a notion that only deepened Fiona’s turmoil.
