Marked By the Pureblood Alpha (Deanna and Luis) novel Chapter 124

Chapter 124 Run, Deanna!

Deanna’s POV:

After last night, I finally realized the truth.

This was a show staged by Peggie.

She used me as a sacrifice for her love.

If Jake chose Peggie, I would die.

If he chose me, these rogues still wouldn’t let me go.

Either way, I was doomed. But I didn’t want to die.

My mouth was stuffed so tight that I couldn’t speak a word.

All I could do was stare at Jake, praying he would find a shred of conscience.

But in the end, he chose Peggie.

I must have been insane to hope for him one more time.

Just then, Peggie lifted her eyes and gave me a slow, sideways glance.

That look was full of smug triumph, as if to say, Deanna, you’ll always be the loser.

Jake’s POV:

Two of the rogues dragged Peggie forward.

They crouched, grabbed the cash from the bag on the ground, and then shoved her toward me.

As soon as Peggie was free, she threw herself into my arms. Her face pressed into my chest, and her voice trembled with tears.

Jake, thank you. I knew you’d never abandon me.

I stood still, not answering her.

My fists clenched at my sides.

Because in Deanna’s eyes, I caught a flash of mockery mixed with deep disappointment.

I had never felt pain like that before. It was as if a sword had pierced straight through my heart, leaving me bleeding and shaking.

And just like that, I lost her again.

The thought barely formed when the two rogues grabbed the duffel bag in hand and yanked Deanna down the mountain path.

She stumbled, struggling against their grip.

I saw them slipping away into the shadows. Shoving Peggie into Jorge’s arms, I barked, Take care of her!

Then I took off after them without hesitation.

Jake! Jake!Peggie’s cries followed me. But in my mind, there was only Deanna.

I couldn’t let anything happen to her. Absolutely no.

Deanna’s POV:

Move faster.

Two rogues walked ahead, yanking on the rope tied to my wrists.

One of them sneered. You sure didn’t pick your men well. Twice now, Jake hasn’t chosen you. Why don’t you stick with us instead? Ha!

The other laughed. Yeah, we’ll treat you real nice.

They stopped suddenly, sharing a look.

A chill ran through me. My feet shifted back on their own.

Wwhat are you trying to do?I asked, my voice tight.

Have some fun with us,one said with a grin.

You’re going to die anyway. Might as well give us a little fun before you go.

My heart pounded hard in my chest.

Of all timesmy wolf, Mila, had been in a deep sleep for weeks.

I couldn’t reach her, couldn’t fight with her.

But I couldn’t let this be the way I died.

The moment their grip loosened, I yanked hard and broke free. Then I ran.

Crap! Get her! Don’t let her escape!

Their angry shouts roared behind me. Heavy boots pounded the ground, chasing closer, like a drumbeat of death.

I didn’t dare to look back. I just kept running until the ground gave way beneath my feet. Loose gravel tumbled down a steep

cliffside.

I froze. I had reached the edge. Nowhere else to go.

The roguesfaces twisted with lecherous smiles.

Come on, Ms. Wiley. Give in. Don’t worry. We’ll make sure it feels unforgettable.

They stepped closer, inch by inch.
