**The Heart I Buried for You by Serene Lockwood**
**Luis’s Restless Heart**
Luis’s POV:
Lately, there’s been an unsettling shift in Deanna’s demeanor that I can’t ignore. It’s as if she’s deliberately probing my boundaries, testing me at every turn.
One moment, she’s within arm’s reach, her warmth inviting and comforting; the next, she’s a distant star, cold and unreachable. This push and pull creates a tumultuous storm inside me, a sensation I’ve never experienced before.
Even in the quiet of night, when my mind should be occupied with the responsibilities of the pack, I find myself lost in thoughts of her. I catch my gaze lingering on her picture displayed on my phone, her smile hauntingly beautiful, pulling at my heartstrings.
As the alpha, I’ve always prided myself on being in command, orchestrating every aspect of our lives with precision. Yet, the moment I learned that Jake had come to her rescue, a gnawing panic took root in the pit of my stomach. The thought of her possibly surrendering to him once more sends shivers down my spine.
“Mmm…”
Deanna’s soft moan drifts through the air, sweet and lingering like the last notes of a haunting melody.
My senses, heightened beyond those of an ordinary werewolf, pick up every detail. I can hear the rhythmic rush of her blood, feel the heat that pulses through her veins, igniting a primal fire within me.
“You want me too.”
My lips barely graze hers, my voice a low growl filled with yearning. It’s not merely desire that consumes me; it’s an insatiable need to claim what is rightfully mine.
My hand glides gently across her waist, feeling the warmth of her skin beneath my fingertips—smoother than the finest silk, more precious than the rarest gem.
“Luis, wait… Let’s just talk.” Her palm presses against my chest, a weak attempt to create distance.
“No.”
I crush my lips against hers again, one hand firmly gripping her waist while the other tilts her chin, ensuring she can’t escape my gaze.
As our lips meet, Griffin roars within my mind, a wild beast eager to claim our mate, to solidify our bond.
I carefully lift her injured leg, mindful of her discomfort, cradling it to prevent any strain.
Deanna’s eyes snap open, wide with alarm. “Luis, stop!”
I press my forehead against hers, searching her eyes, my voice thick with longing.
“I want you tonight, Deanna. Will you give it to me?”
Her hand, which had been resting against my chest, slowly drops away, and relief floods through me like a wave crashing against the shore.
In an instant, I begin to unfasten her blouse, one button at a time. Each button that comes loose reveals her flawless skin, glowing softly in the dim light. Griffin stirs within me, more excited than ever.
“I’ll be gentle,” I whisper, brushing a stray strand of hair behind her ear. “I won’t hurt your leg.”
The floor-to-ceiling windows reflect our entwined shadows, and I can feel Deanna’s body trembling softly against mine, her breaths coming in uneven gasps. Each time our bodies collide, she stirs something deep within my heart.
