Marked By the Pureblood Alpha (Deanna and Luis) novel Chapter 132

**The Heart I Buried for You by Serene Lockwood**

**Perfect Pawn**

**Deanna’s POV:**

In a swift motion, he was about to discard the bracelet as if it were nothing more than a piece of trash.

Panic surged through me, and I shot upright, my hand darting out to seize it from his grasp.

“Hey! You really think you can just throw that away?” I exclaimed, my voice laced with disbelief.

Even the most exquisite jewelry didn’t deserve such a careless fate.

“I don’t take back what I give,” he replied, his tone calm and unwavering. “If you don’t want it, then there’s no reason to keep it.”

I clutched the bracelet tightly, feeling the cool metal against my skin, my lips twitching in defiance.

Fine. You’re the all-powerful alpha. You’ve won this round.

That little confrontation effectively chased away my earlier urge to address the topic of our breakup.

Luis settled back down, wrapping his arm around me from behind, his warmth enveloping me. He rested his chin on my shoulder, his fingers idly weaving through my hair.

“What were you saying just now?” he asked, a hint of curiosity in his voice.

“Nothing,” I replied, closing my eyes and swallowing the words that threatened to spill out.

Maybe I’d find the courage to tell him tomorrow.

The night was too perfect to spoil with heavy conversation.

“Then sleep,” he murmured, gently patting my back as if I were a child in need of comfort.

I leaned into his chest, inhaling that familiar cedar scent, and let myself drift away into slumber.

When I finally opened my eyes again, the sunlight poured through the window, illuminating the room in a golden glow. The other side of the bed lay empty, a stark contrast to the warmth I had just experienced.

The spot where Luis had slept felt cold, his scent barely lingering in the air.

He must have left quite some time ago, likely attending to matters of the pack.

With a sigh, I pushed the blanket aside and swung my legs over the edge of the bed, feeling the coolness of the floor beneath my feet.

Yesterday had been my first night in this space, and I hadn’t even had the opportunity to explore before Luis… well, claimed me entirely.

Curiosity piqued, I began to wander around the room.

The bedroom was expansive, easily around 1,000 square feet—larger than my entire living room back home.

It exuded warmth and luxury, with creamy white tones that enveloped the space and a wall of closets stretching the length of the room.

Inside, the racks were brimming with limited-edition dresses from the current season, each one more stunning than the last.

He had clearly put thought into every detail, including the perfect measurements that fit me like a second skin.

The shirt and skirt I had worn the day before were a disheveled mess, so I rummaged through the closet and pulled out a light beige blouse and a pair of jeans.

Standing in front of the full-length mirror, I examined my reflection.

My skin appeared soft and rosy, and the moonstone bracelet on my wrist caught the light, shimmering delicately. The simple outfit transformed me into a polished office girl, ready to take on the world.

Yet, despite my appearance, I couldn’t shake the nagging feeling of being a kept woman.
