Chapter 140 A First and Last Warning
Third–person POV:
Ruth was furious.
She knew Luis had never once admitted to that engagement.
Now wasn’t the right time to bring it up.
Things had to be handled slowly.

For now, her biggest concern was getting rid of every scheming woman circling her grandson.
Alina stepped forward, breaking the tense silence.
“Mrs. Ruth, Alpha, lunch is ready. Please come to the dining room.”
“Let’s eat,” Ruth said, her voice softening just a little.
At the long dining table, Ruth sat in the center. Luis sat directly across from her.
Lindsay stood to the side, stealing glances at him. She wanted to sit beside him.
In the end, she moved a few steps and took the seat next to Ruth.
The table was laid out like a royal feast. Every fork and spoon gleamed in perfect order.
Uniformed servants stood ready, serving food, pouring soup, and topping off glasses.
Lindsay carefully cut open the thick leg of a king crab with the silver crackers. She placed the juicy meat onto a plate, first serving Ruth.
Then, taking her chance, she stood and placed some on Luis’s plate.
“Luis, try this. It’s fresh king crab, flown in this morning from Euron. The meat is tender at this time of year.”
But the moment she set it down, Luis pushed the plate away.
His voice was cold. “I’m allergic to crab.”
Luis gave a slight nod toward the servants.

The staff was well–trained. Within seconds, one of them replaced his plate with a clean one and stepped back respectfully.
Lindsay’s face turned crimson. Her hand trembled as she gripped the spoon, knuckles pale from the pressure.
Ruth frowned, thinking for a moment.
“I remember you eating crab all the time when you were little. You never had an allergy. Did I remember wrong?”
Luis leaned back in his chair, his voice laced with mockery.
“Haha! I’m not that kid anymore. There’s a lot you don’t know about me.”
The sarcasm hit her instantly. She could hear the resentment beneath his words.
Luis had never liked coming back to the Estate–but today, the coldness in him felt different, heavier, almost chilling.
He wiped the corner of his mouth with a white napkin and turned his sharp, icy gaze toward Lindsay.
“You,” he said, voice low and cutting, “did you go to Crestwood Park?”
Lindsay was terrified, panic flickering in her eyes. She glanced helplessly at Ruth.
Ruth set her knife down and tried to explain. “I sent her to bring you some nourishing soup.”
“Is that so?”
Luis’s tone was light, almost casual–but the air around him turned cold enough to make them both shiver.
He tossed the napkin onto the table and stood up. His sharp eyes locked on them, hard as steel. His voice dropped, deep and dark. “This is my first and the last warning. Tomorrow, have someone put her on a flight back to Ocrana.”
Then he strode away without looking back, his tall figure radiating distance.
At the dining table, Ruth and Lindsay sat frozen in silence. Faces pale.
Deanna’s POV:
The next day, I officially started my new job.

Chapter 140 A First and Last Warning
Following the address Zelena gave me, I arrived at an old, run–down office building.

I took the elevator to the third floor, found the sign that said Bluewave Studio, and pushed the door open.
A young girl sitting at the front desk jumped up the moment she saw me.
“Hi! Are you here to see my boss?”
She must’ve been Zelena’s assistant. She had a pure human scent and the bright energy of someone fresh out of college.
That was rare. Most werewolves wouldn’t hire humans. It usually meant your company was struggling and couldn’t afford to be picky.
I glanced around.
The whole place was maybe 1,000 square feet, with two small private offices and one open workspace.
The main area had five desks. Two of which were piled high with white drawings that looked like rejected design drafts.
It looked just like those junks that got rejected by the clients.
This firm was even worse off than I expected.
“Yes,” I said. “I’m here for Zelena.”
Right then, Zelena stepped out of one of the offices with a big smile. “Deanna, you made it!”
Then she turned to the human girl and said, “Maggie, this is the new shareholder of our studio and your other boss. Call her Ms. Deanna.”
Maggie Hall smiled politely. “Nice to meet you, Ms. Deanna. I’m Ms. Bond’s assistant.”
