Marked By the Pureblood Alpha (Deanna and Luis) novel Chapter 142

**The Heart I Buried for You by Serene Lockwood**
**Mr. Eaton Gets Jealous**

Maggie found herself pressed against the cool wall of the hallway, her heart racing as she stifled a gasp. She clamped her mouth shut, terrified that even the slightest sound might betray her presence.

As a mere human, the intricate dance of pheromones that swirled around the werewolves was an enigma to her. Yet, she could feel the atmosphere shift, tightening around her like a noose, heavy with unspoken tension.

So, Deanna was the fiancée. But what was this absurdity that had just spilled from her lips? The rumors that had circulated seemed to clash with the reality unfolding before her. This Alpha, Jake, appeared to genuinely care for Deanna, which left Maggie in a whirlwind of confusion.

When Jake lowered his head in a gesture of submission to Deanna, time seemed to freeze. In the world of werewolves, it was almost unthinkable for a top Alpha to bow before an Omega. It was a display of vulnerability that stripped away every ounce of pride. Yet, rather than soften Deanna’s heart, it only constricted it further, leaving her gasping for breath.

“Jake, what are you doing?” she whispered, her voice barely escaping her lips.

Jake lifted his gaze, and Maggie could see the weight of guilt etched across his features.

“I know my arrogance and pride have hurt you deeply,” he began, his voice trembling slightly. “I don’t expect you to forgive me, but Deanna, I’m truly sorry. Please, just give me one chance to make things right.”

His voice cracked with emotion. “Deanna, I still love you.”

Deanna’s brow furrowed, her expression a mix of disbelief and disdain.

“Your love doesn’t matter to me anymore,” she replied, her tone icy and resolute.

Jake’s stubbornness flared up as he retorted, “As long as you once loved me, I can’t just give up.”

Deanna shook her head, rendered speechless by his insistence. “Then keep bowing here by yourself,” she said, her voice laced with finality.

With that, she turned to walk away, but Jake’s hand shot out, gripping her wrist with an urgency that belied the power imbalance between an Alpha and an Omega.

“Deanna, please. Just give me a chance,” he pleaded, desperation creeping into his voice.

She struggled against his hold, but his strength was overwhelming. Just then, a familiar scent of cedarwood wafted through the air, sharp and unmistakable.

Deanna’s head snapped up, her eyes widening at the sight of Luis, who stood a few feet away. He exuded confidence, one hand casually tucked in his pocket while the other held a vibrant bouquet of purple lavender. His striking figure commanded attention, filling the hallway with an undeniable presence.

A cold smile played on his lips as he regarded the scene before him. Without a word, he tossed the lavender into a nearby trash bin, a decisive act that sent a ripple of tension through the air, before he turned and walked away, leaving Deanna’s heart in turmoil.
