**The Heart I Buried for You by Serene Lockwood**
**Zelena’s POV:**
“Mr. Eaton.” My voice wavered, betraying the storm of emotions swirling within me.
There was an undeniable instinct ingrained in the very essence of every wolf—a primal urge to bow before a pureblood Alpha. The mere sight of that chilling glint in his eyes sent shivers racing down my spine, compelling me to retreat into the shadows of my own uncertainty.
He halted mid-drag on his cigarette, his head turning slightly in my direction. The coolness of his voice cut through the air like a knife. “You need something?”
I swallowed hard, feeling the weight of my words pressing against my chest. Taking a deep breath, I summoned every ounce of courage I could muster.
“The evidence against Felix… it meant a great deal to me. Even if your assistance stemmed from your loyalty to Deanna, I felt it was only right to express my gratitude properly.”
His reaction was minimal; he simply extinguished his cigarette with a calm precision that made my heart race. “Didn’t you already thank me?”
And just like that, he began to turn away, his back retreating toward the private room that felt like a fortress of secrets.
As I watched him walk away, desperation clawed at my insides, and the words spilled from my lips before I could rein them in. “Mr. Eaton, do you recall the old Stormwind Pack? Back when the Mooncrown Pack hosted its 200th anniversary celebration? Our pack was invited, and my parents had a lengthy conversation with your grandfather…”
Before I could elaborate, he cut me off, impatience lacing his tone. “I don’t remember.”
In that instant, all the resolve I had painstakingly built up crumbled to dust.
Yet, I clenched my fists, determined not to let this rare opportunity slip through my fingers. “Of course, the Stormwind Pack no longer exists. But I was hoping I could add you on WhatsApp. Perhaps one day, my parents could visit the Mooncrown Pack…”
“Ms. Bond.” He halted abruptly, turning to face me once more. The coldness in his gaze was palpable, almost suffocating. “Deanna considers you a good friend.”
His words caught me off guard, leaving me momentarily speechless.
Luis continued, his tone as ruthless as ever. “She mentioned how you aided her in the past, which is why she decided to invest in Bluewave Studio. I had my reservations, but I supported her choice. Now, it’s evident that she made a poor investment.”
My complexion drained of color, the weight of his scrutiny pressing down on me.
He saw right through the facade I had tried to maintain.
It was undeniable.
