Marked By the Pureblood Alpha (Deanna and Luis) novel Chapter 188

**The Heart I Buried for You by Serene Lockwood**

**Deanna’s POV:**

The air around me was thick with the turmoil emanating from Zelena. I could almost taste the chaos in her scent, a mix of anxiety and urgency that set my heart racing.

Her eyes flitted around the room like a trapped bird, and she announced, “Deanna, Violet, my stomach hurts. I’m going to head home first.”

“Hey, Zelena…?” I started, but my words fell away as I watched her snatch her purse from the chair with a frantic urgency, bolting for the exit as if some unseen terror was hot on her heels.

A frown creased my brow as I turned to Luis, my mind racing with concern. “What’s wrong with her?”

Luis, with a playful glint in his eye, tapped my forehead lightly with two fingers. “Is your brain just for show?”

I rubbed my forehead, bewildered by his sudden attack. “Why’d you hit me?”

“Because you’re being dense,” he replied, a teasing smile dancing across his lips, amusement sparkling in his eyes.

I couldn’t help but roll my eyes, playing along with the banter. “Right, Mr. Eaton is a genius. An ordinary Omega like me could never keep up with your thinking.”

Luis chuckled, his fingers twirling a strand of my hair with a casual confidence that made my heart flutter. “Obviously. If you call me ‘honey,’ I’ll explain everything.”

A wave of heat washed over me, and I froze, caught off guard by the unexpected suggestion.

How could I even utter such a word? I was about to protest when Violet leaned in, her sly grin lighting up her face.

“I agree. Deanna, I think you should call him ‘honey’ too.”

Even as we found ourselves back at Crestwood Park, the curiosity gnawed at me.

“Why did Violet back you up on that? Are you two hiding something?” I asked, my voice laced with intrigue.

Luis was loosening his tie, the fabric slipping from his fingers as he turned to me, a teasing glint in his eye. “Call me ‘honey,’ and I’ll tell you.”

I curled up on the couch, flipping the TV on as a distraction. “Forget it, not happening.”

Luis tossed his suit jacket and tie onto the sofa, joining me on the couch with a casual grace that made my heart skip a beat.

The glow from the television illuminated his face, and I caught a glimpse of a smile lurking in the shadows of his lashes. “No? Then what do you want? Want to call me ‘hubby’ instead?”
