Marked By the Pureblood Alpha (Deanna and Luis) novel Chapter 294

**The Heart I Buried for You by Serene Lockwood**
**Chapter 294: Running Late**

**Deanna’s POV:**

Morning light filtered gently through the curtains, casting soft shadows across the room. I stirred from sleep, a tingling sensation running through my limbs, as if the world was coaxing me awake.

As I blinked away the remnants of slumber, my gaze settled on Luis, who was hovering just above me. One of his hands rested on my pillow, while the other was casually propped next to my shoulder. His striking eyes roamed over my face, a playful glint in them, before he lowered his head and pressed a tender kiss to my neck.

For a moment, I simply stared at him, still wrapped in the fog of sleep.

Luis chuckled softly, a mischievous spark lighting up his features as he playfully nipped at my lip. “You can really sleep, huh?”

The warmth of his breath sent a shiver down my spine, and suddenly, memories of the previous night rushed back to me—the intensity of that passionate kiss, the way my heart had raced, almost too fast for comfort. I recalled the concern about the baby’s vital signs, which was precisely why things hadn’t progressed further between us.

Yet here he was, still determined to squeeze into the guest room and sleep beside me!

A sudden realization jolted me. I scrambled for my phone, glancing at the time, and panic surged through me like a cold wave.

“Why didn’t you wake me? We’re going to be late for the hospital appointment!” I exclaimed, urgency lacing my voice.

Without waiting for a response, I dashed into the bathroom, hastily splashing water on my face and applying a quick touch of makeup.

When I emerged, I found Luis still lounging in bed, his posture relaxed as he leaned on one hand, watching me with an amused expression.

I frowned, irritation bubbling beneath the surface. “Aren’t you coming with me to the hospital?”

Despite the ticking clock, he appeared completely unfazed, as if time was merely a suggestion.

Finally, he rolled out of bed and ambled into the bathroom.

As he passed me, his fingers brushed against my forehead, tucking a stray strand of hair behind my ear. “Relax, we won’t be late. The staff already made breakfast. Eat first, then we’ll go.”

I stepped out and was immediately enveloped by the inviting aroma wafting from the dining table. The sight was enough to draw me in—an exquisite breakfast spread that made my stomach growl in response.
