**Chapter 308: Don’t Be Sad**
**Deanna’s POV:**
With a steady breath, I grasped the microphone, feeling its cool surface against my palm.
The atmosphere in the room shifted, a palpable tension hanging in the air as I stepped forward. A sea of reporters, their eager faces illuminated by the harsh lights, quieted—if only slightly—each one raising their recorders as if they were weapons, ready to capture every syllable that would escape my lips.
As I stood before them, the weight of their scrutiny pressing down on me, I began to articulate my thoughts, deliberately choosing my words with care.
“Hello, everyone. I appreciate you all being here today.”
A murmur swept through the crowd, the anticipation crackling like electricity.
“I understand that many of you arrived with hopes of uncovering something scandalous. However, I must apologize for any disappointment. The photographs you’ve seen are nothing but fabrications.”
I took a moment to gather my thoughts, feeling the intensity of their gazes bearing down on me.
“There are two points I need to clarify.”
“Firstly, I have no relationship whatsoever with Mr. Davenport. Those images were taken completely out of context.”
As soon as the last word left my mouth, I noticed Rachel signaling to the staff. The massive screen behind me flickered to life, illuminating the dimly lit room with hotel security footage that played out like a scene from a movie.
The footage revealed the same hotel room in question.
I was the first to emerge, stepping out into the hallway, and just moments later, Malcolm followed closely behind me.
He made his way onto the stage, a reassuring presence.
“Hello, everyone. I’m Mr. Faulkner from the Grisclaw Pack. Deanna and I are friends. As you can see in the footage, I was present as well. I was simply escorting her to the hospital for a routine checkup.”
He paused, allowing his words to settle among the reporters like a heavy fog.
“As for the reason Mr. Davenport was at the hotel, the truth is much darker. He drugged Deanna through illegal means, and I was the one who intervened to bring her out of that situation.”
A ripple of shock coursed through the crowd, whispers erupting like wildfire.
The reporters, sensing blood in the water, unleashed a barrage of questions.
“Who drugged Ms. Wiley? Is there any proof?”
“Then who is the father of her child? Surely there must be a man involved!”
“What about the hospital report? Is that genuine? How do you explain your pregnancy?”
As the questions bombarded me, I took a deep breath and steadied my resolve.
“Yes, I am pregnant. The father is my boyfriend, and we have plans to marry.”
