Marked By the Pureblood Alpha (Deanna and Luis) novel Chapter 309

**The Heart I Buried for You by Serene Lockwood**
**Chapter 309: They Understood**

**Deanna’s POV:**

The moment that familiar voice reached my ears, time seemed to freeze, and I felt a sudden hitch in my breath. It was as if the world around me had faded away, leaving only that sound—so dear, yet so distant.

“Mila? Is that really you?” I called out, my voice trembling with a mixture of disbelief and hope, echoing in the hidden corners of my mind.

“It’s me, Deanna. I’m back.” Her voice resonated with fatigue, yet it carried a strength that pierced through the fog of my uncertainty. “I’m sorry. I’ve been gone for far too long.”

Instantly, warmth flooded my eyes, blurring my vision with unshed tears.

It was my wolf. My Mila… the spirit that had been dormant within me for what felt like an eternity, more than six months of silence and solitude.

So many nights, I had reached out to her in my thoughts, whispering her name into the void, only to be met with silence. Countless times, I found myself grappling with the fear that I might have to live my life as an Omega, forever without my wolf.

But I clung to the memory of her promise, the vow she had made before succumbing to slumber. Mila had assured me she would return, and I had to believe in her words.

Now, in this moment of raw anger and helplessness, she had answered my call.

A wave of joy surged through me, mingling with a warmth that awakened something deep within my soul.

That energy coursed through my veins, spreading like the first rays of sunlight breaking through a darkened sky. The turmoil that had gripped me moments before dissipated, and I noticed the marks on my fingers—evidence of my tension—beginning to fade. A soft, golden glow shimmered at my fingertips, a sign of something profound stirring within me.

What was happening? Why did it feel so new, so exhilarating?

“I’ll explain later. For now, we need to leave this place,” Mila urged gently within my mind, her presence a soothing balm to my frayed nerves.

“Okay,” I replied softly, feeling a renewed sense of purpose.

With Mila’s return fortifying me from the inside, I gathered the scattered pieces of my emotions and lifted my head high.

Malcolm’s gaze was fixed on me, concern etched across his face, while the reporters surrounding us looked on like ravenous wolves, eager to pounce.

Taking a deep breath, I steadied myself and addressed the room with clarity, “My boyfriend is a personal matter. I’m sorry, but I won’t be answering that question.”

With that, I placed the microphone down and stepped off the stage, feeling a mix of liberation and trepidation.

**Third-person POV:**

As Deanna descended from the stage, Rachel momentarily froze, her mind racing to catch up with the whirlwind of events.

But in an instant, she snapped back to reality, seizing the microphone left behind by Deanna with a sense of urgency.
