Chapter 346 The Little Girl
Deanna’s POV:
Me?
No way!
My voice trembled. “What are you even talking about?”

Luis said, “Look closely. If that little girl in the photo isn’t you, then who else could it be?”
If that little girl isn’t you, then who else could it be?
Luis’s teasing words kept repeating in my head.
Over and over, sharp and clear.
My heart skipped a beat.
After a long pause, I finally reached out and slowly picked up the photo frame.
The photo inside showed up clearly in front of me.
A little girl was turning her face to the side. She had soft baby cheeks, bright eyes, and wore a blue–and–white dress with a big patch on it.
She was squatting down, holding a dirty little puppy, smiling like sunshine.
Then a flash of memory hit me like lightning.
That dress had been a gift from one of Dorothy nurse friends.
One time, Dorothy was in a bad mood and she took it out on me. She pulled the dress and ripped it.
I couldn’t stand to throw it away. I tried to sew a patch on by myself, but the stitches looked really bad.
But Dorothy hated it when anyone treated me kindly. She hated seeing me own anything I liked.
In the end, she threw the dress away anyway. I remember crying so hard over it.
And just like that, all those old memories buried under years of dust slowly opened up again, like a heavy door that had been locked for a long time.

Chapter 346 The Little Girl
When I was very young, I found a newborn puppy hiding in a corner of the hospital.
The puppy’s body was covered in wounds, and it was starving and skinny–kind of like me.
I fed it in secret for a few days, but Dorothy found out.
She said I wasn’t allowed to keep it.
If I left the puppy, I knew it wouldn’t survive.
I remember gathering all my courage to ask an older boy to help me.
That boy was very good–looking but also very cold, and he spoke in a sharp, unfriendly way.
At first, I didn’t like him at all.
He acted like he was better than everyone else, and he made fun of me.
But somehow, he still agreed to help me raise the puppy.
I thought maybe he just had a bad temper, but deep down, he wasn’t a bad person.
So I went to the hospital every single day to see him.
First, to check on the puppy.
Second, because he always had a lot of snacks.
Little by little, I started to feel that this handsome boy wasn’t as terrible as I had believed.
One day, I arrived early.
I saw several doctors in white coats walking out of his room.
They treated him politely, but as soon as they left, they started talking badly about him.
“So what if he’s the heir of the pureborn werewolves? His parents are gone, and now he’s dealing with depression.”
“From a psychological view, he’s cold, ruthless, and emotionless. Nothing can fix him.”
I was furious.
That boy helped me take care of the puppy.
And he always gave me lots of snacks. He was nothing like the cold, ruthless person they said
he was.

Chapter 346 The Little Girl
I felt like I was his only friend, and I wanted to protect him.
So I went to see him even more.
I started getting close to him on purpose, smiling at him.
He still kept a blank face.
But his pretty eyes would brighten.
The corner of his mouth would pull up just a little.
