Chapter 92 I Miss You, Deanna
Chapter 92 I Miss You, Deanna
Deanna’s POV:
By the time I helped Violet into her bedroom, she was already out cold.
I grabbed a warm towel, wiped her bottom, and tucked her under the blanket before I left her room.
It was too late to head home, so I decided to stay at her place.
I came here often, so she had already prepared a bedroom just for me.

After a shower, I dropped onto the bed. My body felt like it was falling apart, but my mind refused to rest. I kept tossing and turning, wide awake.
Jake’s words spun in my head like a curse.
“He’s just having fun with you.
“Mooncrown Pack would never accept someone like you.
“You’re going to get hurt, Deanna.”
I hated to admit it, but he had hit the nerve of my deepest fear.
I reached for my phone on the nightstand and opened WhatsApp. Then, I tapped on the profile picture of the one responsible for my sleepless night.
My fingers typed out a few words, but I couldn’t bring myself to send them.
In frustration, I deleted everything and tossed the phone onto the bed.
What am I supposed to ask? Is he with me because he likes me or just to spite Jake?
Really, Deanna? Didn’t you say once that you should go with the flow?
Then why chase him with these questions? What are you afraid of–that you’ll lose?
As I wrestled with my thoughts, my phone suddenly rang.
I glanced at the screen–Luis.
Then I noticed the chat box. Turns out while I was clumsily deleting words earlier, I had somehow sent him a string of nonsense symbols. No wonder he called.
I took a deep breath and answered. His low, rich voice came through, smooth and teasing. “Still awake?”
I lowered my voice on purpose. “About to sleep.”
“What’s with your voice?”
“Nothing.”

“Let me see.”
I froze.
For a second I thought he’d lost his mind. Has he forgotten that he’s overseas?
What, did he think he could just teleport himself before me in minutes?
But then I realized my mistake–my phone screen lit up with a video call request.
My heart skipped. I scrambled upright, pushing my messy hair back with my fingers.
Then I looked down and panicked even more.
I was wearing Violet’s red nightgown. Thin straps. A deep V. Too much showing.
I yanked the neckline up to my collarbone.
Once I made sure I was fully covered, I reluctantly answered the video call.
It was my first time video chatting with a werewolf this late at night. My hands didn’t even know where to go. I just placed them stiffly on my lap.
On the other side of the screen, Luis leaned lazily in a chair on his balcony.
His eyes narrowed with a teasing glint. He had a crooked grin playing on his lips.
I turned my face away, feeling the heat crawl up my ears. “Why video call all of a sudden?”
His smile widened. “I want to see you.”
Luis’s POV:
When the video connected, I stared at the woman on the screen and couldn’t look away.
Her skin was smooth and pale like the finest silk. Her eyes were bright and watery. Her lips were a soft red. Even through the screen I felt the sweet, soft pull of her Omega scent.
She held a hand to her chest. Tonight she wore a red slip; the thin straps showed one bare, graceful shoulder.
My Adam’s apple bobbed on its own. Something in me–the Griffin–started to stir hungrily.
Is she trying to hide or show me?
Doesn’t she know that half–revealed looks are more tempting than showing everything?
My fingertip gently traced the phone screen. “Deanna, you’re trying to seduce me, aren’t you?”
“I’m not,” she rebuked softly.
