Chapter 95 I’ll Ruin You
Deanna’s POV:
I met their shocking stares head–on and repeated each word clearly. “I said, my boyfriend is Luis Eaton.”
Kathryn’s lips trembled as she finally reacted. “Luis? The pureblood Alpha from Mooncrown Pack?”

She shook her head quickly. “You think I’d believe that? Just because Mooncrown Pack invested in us doesn’t mean Luis would ever want you. Their bloodline is pure. Their strength is greater than the Olsendreich Pack. Why would their chosen heir ever fall for someone from a small–time pack like Mistbane?”
She sneered. “Sweetheart, everyone wants to marry up. But for you, landing Jake was already the highest you could reach. Forget
about the Mooncrown Pack.”
I turned my back on them, clutching my phone so hard my knuckles turned white. “Believe me or don’t. I don’t care.”
“Look at her!” Kathryn snapped, turning to Philip. “Why did I ever raise such a lying daughter?”
Philip tried to calm her down. Then he looked at me and said, “Of course I would love it if Mr. Eaton had his eyes on you. But like your mom said, our pack isn’t on that level. Whether or not you have broken up with Jake, our pack has to hold up our reputation at an event like this.”
I let out a cold laugh. “So my feelings don’t matter? They’re just props for your reputation?”
Kathryn scoffed. “In high society, every family is the same. Don’t fool yourself. You’re no longer that same little girl from that back alley.”
Her words hit me hard. I blinked hard.
Kathryn’s eyes flickered at this. She tugged at Philip’s sleeve.
“Forget it. Let’s just go downstairs and host the guests.”
They stormed off in rage together, leaving me alone in silence.
The room finally quieted down, but I felt drained.
I knew no one would believe me just because I said Luis was my boyfriend.
Honestly, even I wasn’t sure of it deep down.
This should’ve been the happiest day of my life. Instead, it felt as depressing as every birthday before.
Maybe celebrating birthdays just wasn’t meant for me.
I walked over and pulled open the curtains.
Down in the garden, the party was in full swing. Laughter and glasses clinking were heard; women in gowns and men in tuxes had already started dancing.
“Ms. Deanna.” A maid’s careful voice came from outside the door. “The Alpha and Luna asked you to come downstairs. The party is
starting.”

“Alright.” I took a deep breath and turned toward the door.
I stepped outside; a long hallway stretched in front of me.
I was halfway down the hall when a door beside me suddenly swung open.

Before I could react, a strong hand shot out like lightning and clamped onto my wrist. With one hard pull, I was yanked inside.
I stumbled a few steps, then froze. Jillian stood across from me, glaring.
Her eyes were so sharp, so full of rage, that for a moment I forgot she was human. She looked more like a she–wolf circling its prey.
The room was dark, with no lights on, only a faint glow flickering in from the window.
The eerie atmosphere sent goosebumps up my arms.
“Jillian, what kind of game are you playing?” I snapped.
Her smile twisted. “Deanna, there’s only room for one of us.”
In the dim light, I saw the obsession and madness in her eyes, and unease crept into my chest.
“Jillian, I don’t have time for this. I’m going downstairs to celebrate my birthday.”
Her voice turned shrill. “Deanna! Leave Mistbane Pack and never come back. Do that, and I’ll spare you tonight.”
“Guests are right outside. Keep this up and they’ll see who you really are,” I warned coldly, reaching for the door.
But Jillian lunged, gripping my arm with crushing strength, dragging me toward the window.
Her nails dug into my skin, sharp enough to draw pain, and I sucked in a breath through my teeth.
