"Today is Miles' death anniversary. I only went with her to pay respects," Sebastian said.
Hearing that, Roxanne smiled.
"Mm, it's understandable that you accompanied Liana to see Miles on his death anniversary. On my birthday, you were with her too, but I overlooked it. On our anniversary, you were busy coaxing her, and I was okay with that too.
"Another time, you said you'd come pick me up but went to get her instead, and I forgave you for that too. But Sebastian, I'm just an orphan. I don't know many people in Valoria. If you don't show up, can't I get Zachary to pick me up instead? Is that not allowed?
"Liana needed your company, so you went. You didn't have time for me, and I understood. After all, I trust you. So this time, I got someone else to keep me company. I didn't bother you or cause you any trouble. Aren't I just so considerate?"
Sebastian's expression instantly darkened.
As he rose from the couch, his commanding presence filled the room. Behind the calm in his eyes was a brewing storm.
"I see Liana as a sister. She's not well, and I'm taking care of her for Miles. I don't have any feelings for her. Why do you have to take it this way?"
Roxanne opened her hands and blinked her clear eyes, looking at him innocently. "He's just my senior. He saw how lonely I was and took care of me. I don't have any romantic feelings for him. I just sincerely appreciate him. Why are you so mad?"
The veins on Sebastian's forehead throbbed, but he was trying to hold it in. It felt like his own words were being slammed right back on him.
"That's not the same."
Roxanne's smile deepened.
"You're right, it's not the same. You dote on Liana, go to concerts with her, spend her birthday with her, and show up whenever she calls. I just had one meal with Zachary. That's really unfair to me. My favorite singer is holding a concert again soon, and I'll go with Zachary. After all, you're busy. You don't have time for me. I understand."
"Roxanne Sawyer!" Sebastian finally exploded. His voice was tinged with madness, and his eyes were burning red with fury.
Roxanne took a step back in case he lost control and got physical. She really didn't want to get hit. "I hear you just fine. No need to shout. You're disturbing the neighbors."
