With that, Roxanne shut the door, leaving Mira outside. She didn't blame Mira as she was the housekeeper and she was just doing her job. Since she got their wages from Sebastian, she would carry out the tasks he assigned her.
But no one should expect anything from Roxanne.
Mira didn't dare delay and quickly called Nicholas, whose house happened to be nearby. He had just gotten home and told Mira he would be there right away, instructing her to help move Sebastian to his room and let him rest.
Nicholas arrived quickly, and Sebastian had already been helped to bed. He lay there, his strikingly handsome face pale. His stomach hurt, but it felt like something else inside him hurt even more. The layered pain left him gasping.
Nicholas hurried to feed Sebastian his medicine, then mixed up a solution and gave him an injection. Only then did Sebastian's expression ease a little.
With just one look, Nicholas could already tell what had caused this—rage. "How many times have I told you not to get worked up? Why won't you listen?"
The truth was, Sebastian was like a robot, terrifyingly calm. For his emotions to spiral like this, the cause had to be Roxanne. And even with Sebastian in this state, Roxanne hadn't shown up. In the past, she would've been right by his side, fussing over him.
Nicholas asked helplessly, "What happened? Didn't you just propose yesterday? You even gave her True Love's Heart. How did it all blow up today?"
The stabbing and cramping in Sebastian's stomach had eased significantly, and his complexion had improved slightly. Lying there, a flicker of confusion crossed his sharp, cold features. After a long while, he said in a raspy voice, "I don't know."
He really didn't. He had no idea why Roxanne had become like this.
Nicholas ran a frustrated hand through his hair. These two—one in the hospital one day, the other needing treatment the next. At this rate, they were going to tear each other apart.
With a sigh, he said, "Forget it. I won't get anything out of you. I'll go talk to Roxanne."
