But then, thinking of herself, Roxanne no longer felt any sympathy for Sebastian. After all, he had also given all his affection to Liana and had never treated Roxanne as someone special. In the end, it seemed he had inherited that from Kate.
The atmosphere once again sank into a heavy, stifling silence.
Sebastian placed some food on her plate and said gently, "Eat a bit more."
Roxanne picked it up and ate it. Then, she looked up at him and asked, "Sebastian, what exactly is our relationship now?"
His hand paused for a moment. Then, he slowly raised his head and met her eyes. For a moment, his gaze was incredibly deep, filled with emotions Roxanne couldn't quite read. He held his fork tightly until his knuckles turned slightly white.
"Still the same as before," he replied.
That answer left Roxanne confused. What did he mean by "before?" Boyfriend and girlfriend? Fiancée and fiancé?
But her current status was that of a married woman! So, Sebastian's answer was basically as good as no answer at all.
Roxanne had already come up with a plan. Right now, Sebastian was in a heightened emotional state, so breaking things off with him wouldn't work. In that case, she would just let time drag it out.
Either way, she didn't believe Sebastian had any deep feelings for her. He was just struggling to accept how quickly her attitude had shifted. After all, the woman who had always loved him had turned away faster than he could react.
His pride had taken a hit, so she would just let things drag out. In any case, now that she was married, there was no way things between them could go any further.
Roxanne spoke to Sebastian calmly now, and she didn't dare to deliberately provoke him. She had always thought of him as strong and unshakeable, but in reality, he was fragile. One harsh word and he could start coughing up blood and passing out. She didn't want blood on her hands.
"You should stay in the hospital for a couple more days for observation. Your condition is pretty serious," she said.
"Okay," said Sebastian obediently. Then, he told her, "This is still a hospital ward, after all. The air here is full of germs. After we finish eating, you should go home and rest. I'll be fine here."
Roxanne was secretly thrilled. Sebastian had finally said something normal. But still, she politely asked, "Are you sure you'll be okay on your own?"
Sebastian didn't miss the flicker of delight in her eyes.
