Sebastian lay in bed. Even though his face showed no expression, the pressure in the room was enough to make all four people visibly tremble. He couldn't be bothered to speak. Instead, he gave Nicholas a look.
Thus, Nicholas turned to them and said, "Relax. He doesn't bite. As long as you stick to the confidentiality agreement, we'll honor everything that was promised to you, and no one's going to come after you."
But the four didn't relax at all. Their faces looked worse than if they were crying.
Nicholas was unfazed. People who aimed high had to handle pressure. If they couldn't even deal with this, how could they take on real responsibilities in the future? In fact, he was doing them a favor by toughening them up.
Nicholas got straight to the point. "Based on what you know, who do you think Mr. Hayes's love interest is? Go on, speak freely."
Sebastian shot him a cold look. The message in his eyes was crystal clear—"What kind of stupid question was that?" Who else could it be besides Roxanne? She was the only girlfriend he had ever had, and their relationship had been made public.
But Nicholas only smiled, amusement glinting in his eyes. Why had he picked four people who were somehow connected to Sebastian's and Roxanne's circles? Well, Sebastian was about to find out.
Sitting stiffly, the four looked at each other, and no one spoke.
Nicholas raised the stakes. "First to speak gets a hundred thousand dollars."
Violet immediately put up her hand. "I know the answer! It's Liana!"
She had never interacted with Sebastian directly, but her social circles included plenty of rich people from Valoria, and they often hung out together. So, she ended up hearing a lot of gossip about Sebastian.
The most talked-about were two women they had given the code name "White Rose" and "Red Rose".
Whenever people mentioned White Rose, it was with respect and admiration. When Red Rose came up, it was all contempt and mockery. So, it was easy to tell which one carried more weight.
"Mr. Hayes, with the way things are now, you're hurting both women. Ms. Halesworth might be accused of being a homewrecker, and Roxanne's reputation at college is already suffering."
The moment Sebastian heard that Roxanne had a bad reputation at college, he yanked the pillow away from his face. He looked straight at Jake and asked, "What do you mean her reputation is suffering?"
Jake was startled by Sebastian's expression, which was so dark it was practically murderous. Holy cow, getting this job offer was going to get him killed! He instinctively looked to Nicholas for help.
Nicholas tried to soothe him. "Don't worry. That's just how he is. Don't take it personally. Keep going and speak freely."
Jake was already shaking. Nicholas kept telling them to speak freely, but his courage was hanging by a thread. So, how was he supposed to keep talking? But he had been dragged this far into it, and there was no turning back now.
"People at the college are saying she shamelessly drugged you so that she could make you her boyfriend. They believe she used underhanded means to come between you and Ms. Halesworth. Otherwise, you and Ms. Halesworth would've been married with kids by now."
