Grant had never met anyone quite like Oliver—arrogant and shameless through and through. But there he was, all grins, the kind that leaves you at a loss for words.
"Josie, the seafood here is pretty good. Take a look and see what catches your eye," Oliver said, sliding up next to Josefina, sharing a menu with her.
Anyone passing by could see it clear as day—Oliver and Josefina looked like a couple of lovebirds.
Josefina browsed the menu and picked a few items. Looking up, she said to Grant, "Hey Grant, why don't you check out the menu and pick whatever you like?"
Oliver chimed in, "Grant, this place isn't too shabby. Josie and I come here pretty often."
Grant stayed silent. Was Oliver trying to rub it in?
Glancing over the menu, Grant ordered a couple of dishes. "Rosa, you love shrimp, right? Wonder if they're as fresh as the ones from Rose Bay Island."
The seafood from Rose Bay Island was legendary for its freshness; it was practically from the ocean to the plate.
"The seafood here's pretty good," Josefina said with a smile.
Oliver then ordered a bottle of red wine, and the waiter poured them each a glass. "No wine for my lady," Oliver instructed.
He leaned in and whispered to Josefina, "Josie, stick with juice tonight. I've got some orange juice coming your way. Don't want you feeling off in a couple of days. Need some warm water instead?"
Josefina's cheeks turned a deep red, instantly getting his hint. Her period was due tomorrow, and drinking wasn't wise. Slightly embarrassed, she pinched Oliver's leg, "Quit it, will you?"
Watching the couple's sweet exchanges, Grant felt a pang of... something.
"I'm off to the restroom," he mumbled, standing up to leave. He couldn't bear to watch any longer, afraid he'd lose his grip on his emotions.
