As I stood there watching someone trying to break into my room, I knew that it was going to hurt no matter how I made my way out of my bedroom and I was a little hesitant at first. But that’s

when I heard it…

“Trinity.” Gage growled.

“Gage.” I said.

“Are you there? Are you alright?” He asked. So I ran back into the room and I moved the vanity away from the door so he could open it fully.

“I blocked the door.” I said.

“That was good thinking. But I thought they found their way in here.” He said.

“So, you didn’t find them?” I asked.

“No. They’re gone.” He said.

“How? How the hell is that possible? No one can escape the dungeon.” I said.

“They had help. We don’t know who yet but the warrior that was keeping guard is dead. So, someone on the outside helped them.” He said.

“Oh my goddess. That means there’s someone in this pack watching me.” I said.

“Most likely.” He said and I started pacing again. My panic was evident so he walked over to me and he pulled me into a hug.

“Don’t think for one second they are going to get to you. It’s never going to happen.” He said.

“They shouldn’t have been able to get to the dungeon either.” I said.

“Do you have any idea who it could have been?” He asked.

“Yeah. But your parents aren’t gonna like it.” I said. So he pulled away and he looked me straight in

the face.

“Tell me.” He said.

“Mom and dad were involved in your parents‘ inner circle. They never associated with anyone else. So, it has to be someone that your parents trust.” I said.

“Somone in their inner circle.” Gage said.

“Yeah.” I said.

“Alright. I’ll tell my parents that. You don’t have to worry about this. We will find out who let them

out.” Gage said.

“Have they crossed the border? I mean, are they still on the territory?” I asked.

“We don’t know. Which is why we’re going to keep a really close eye on you.” He said. And I went

and sat on my bed.

“So, I’m a prisoner.” I said.

“Don’t think of it like that.” He said.

“How can I not? I’m not gonna be allowed to leave. You guys aren’t gonna let me leave alone. You’re always gonna be with me. What about school? I have to start going back to school soon. Are you guys going to come to campus with me?” I asked.

“Yeah. If we have to, we will.” He said.

“I can’t ask you to do that. It’s too much. You’ll be sitting around all day doing nothing.” I said.

“I don’t care. We will do everything we can to protect you. I promise.” He said.

“Are there people at my house?” I asked.

“Warriors are searching the place now. Is there anywhere that they could hide in that house?” He

asked.

“No. They don’t have any hiding spots. Just the usual places. Turn the basement upside down. They really like that room.” I said. So he nodded, not wanting to ask too much about the basement.

He was then called away by his father so he had to leave. And I was left in my room trying to stay calm and keeping my s**t together. But it wasn’t easy.

I was mainly focused on not breaking down and showing everyone what a mess I really am.

I hated feeling like this. I was never allowed to train so I can’t even stick up for myself. If they attack me, I can’t defend myself. I can’t fight back. I don’t know how to. They are well trained. My dad and Spencer. They will both kill me in an instant and they know that.

I’m sure they want me dead now more than ever.

I can’t blame them for that. Because of me, their perfect little lives were torn away from them.

I was sitting on my bed chewing my fingernails, staring off into space when someone cleared their throat at my door.

“Asher.” I said, looking up.

“Are you alright?” He asked.

“Yeah. You can come in if you want.” I said. So he walked in a little, but then he looked at the door and saw that the lock was broken.

“What happened?” He asked.

“Gage did that. He thought I was in trouble. The i***t didn’t tell me that it was him so I thought someone else was trying to break into my room.” I said.

“Yeah. He is an idiot.” Asher said walking into my room.

I saw him scrunch his nose up a little. Obviously able to smell Gage in my room since he had just

been here.

“Nothing? No sign of them?” I asked.

“We found fresh tracks heading for the border. No one has found them so we are assuming they

made it across the border.” He said.

“So, they’re free.” I said.

“Dad just realized that we don’t know a whole lot about your family. They’re files so that they are only children, they haven’t listed any siblings or even their parents. They never talked about their families. Do you have any idea where they would have gone?” He asked.

“They lied.” I said.

“What?” He asked.

“They lied. They have family everywhere. My mom and dad come from huge families. A lot of siblings each and they have aunties and uncles everywhere. All over the country.” I said.

“Seriously?” He asked.

“Yeah. They could be going anywhere.” I said.

“We’re gonna need to know everything that you know.” He said.

“Yeah. I know.” I said.

“Are you alright?” He asked.

“I don’t know if I actually like that they’re here or not.” I said.

“I know. It’s gotta be pretty confusing for you. No one is going to come anywhere near you. I’m putting sensors at the top of the stairs. It’ll set off an alarm if anyone tries to walk up here that doesn’t belong.” He said.

“What about when we walk up here?” I asked.

“Well, it’ll be on the floor so we just have to step over it. No one will know about it except the Alpha family and you.” He said.
