It was a very quiet trip back to the pack and as soon as we got there, I didn’t see anyone hanging

around the packhouse.

Gage claimed that he needed to go and do some work for his father but I wasn’t sure if that was

the truth or not.

I went upstairs to my room and I put my bag on the floor and flopped on the bed.

I didn’t think he would be so pissed about me trying to find someone for him. He can’t stay single

forever. And no matter what his feelings are about me, it was never going to happen.

“Trinny.” Someone said from the door, so I looked up and Asher was standing there.

“Hi.” I said, sitting up.

“Are you alright?” He asked.

“Gage is pissed at me. I introduced him to a couple of girls at school today and he thinks I was

trying to set him up.” I said.

“Weren’t you?” Asher chuckled.

“I would love for him to meet someone, but I mean, I didn’t care if he found someone that he was

interested in. Even if he just found some friends that didn’t consist of just me.” I said.

“Yeah. He doesn’t really seem to hang around with anyone else.” Asher said.

“It’s been like that for years. Even in high school.” I said. So Asher walked into my room and closed

the door.

“Did you ever date anyone in high school?” He asked.

“No. Guys were always too afraid to ask me out because the twins were always hanging around.” I

said.

“Well, I’m not gonna say that I’m pissed that you never dated anyone in high school.” He smirked.

“Shut up.” I said throwing a pillow at him but he caught it and started laughing.

“Can you blame me?” He asked.

“Well, unfortunately I do know your f*****g history.” I said.

“Those girls were nothing to me. You know that. Especially now.” He said.

“I know. I just hate Gage being pissed at me.” I said. So he walked over and sat next to me on the

“You know that he’s going to be pissed no matter what. When he finds out the truth about us, he’s going to be pissed.” Asher said.

“That’s why I would love to introduce him to someone so maybe he might be somewhat happy before he finds out the truth about us.” I explained.

“That’s a nice thought. But I doubt it. He thinks that you’re going to be his next girlfriend. So, he’s

not going to accept any other girls.”

I was afraid you were going to say something like that.” I said.

“Well, we can’t tell the family yet. Not until I can prove to my father that I’m not a total screw up. And if I hurt his precious little baby Gage then the s**t will hit the fan around here.” He said.

“What is your father’s problem?” I asked.

“I don’t know. He’s just always seen me as a screw up.” He said.

“I’m sorry about that.” I said.

“There’s nothing you can do about it. I know that I’ve made mistakes in the past but for some reason he can’t let them go. Just because I am the future Alpha.” He said.

“Well, the twins have screwed up in the past as well. They just don’t have as much pressure on

them as you do.” I said.

“I’m glad you can see that.” He said.

Asher sat there staring at me for a moment and I saw his eyes change to black and then back to green for a moment. His wolf was coming forward. The mate pull was becoming stronger between us and I quickly looked away and tucked my hair behind my ear.

“Don’t do that.” Asher said, grabbing my hand that was fiddling with my hair.

“I know that it’s hard. It is for me too. Lily is going crazy in my head right now. But we agreed not to act on it. Not yet.” I said.

“And we both know that the mate bond doesn’t work like that. It’s not like humans. It’s not the same as just being in love.” Asher said, forcing me to look at him.

“I know that. And believe me, I wish things were different right now.” I said.

“They don’t need to know.” Asher said.

“You know as well as I do that s**t like this can’t stay a secret. Not in a pack.” I said.

CHAPTER 21

“I know that. But I don’t care. I really don’t.” He said.

“Right now, I don’t care.” He said, staring into my eyes.

“You’re not going to make this easy, are you?” I asked.

“Probably not.” He smirked before he leaned forward and he lightly pressed his lips against mine.

Once I felt him pressed against me, my wolf tried to take control and I was fighting to keep her

back.

But the mate bond was just as strong as it had ever been.

Asher grabbed me by the waist and pulled me over to him so I was straddling him while he was

still sitting on the bed and I wrapped my arms around his neck.

He started kissing along my jaw, down to my neck and where he would eventually mark me.

I moved my head back towards his and his lips found mine again.

He brushed his tongue along my lip, begging for entrance which I granted him.

Our tongues started dancing around each other as his hands were exploring every inch of my body, over my clothes and then under my shirt.

I was a little hesitant about him touching my skin under my shirt because of the scars, but he didn’t

care about the scars. He didn’t want to hurt me, but he didn’t care that they were there either.

Asher stood up while he was still holding me and he turned around and laid me on the bed where

he was laying on top of me and he rested most of his weight on one of his arms instead of on me
