Moonlight In Chains (Trinity and Asher) novel Chapter 28

I stayed in my old room that night, but even that felt really strange. People were trying to mind link me but I blocked them all off. So my phone started going off constantly. It was from almost everyone I knew in the pack. Not just from Arlo checking in and Asher trying to talk to me, but it was from people I went to high school with wondering what was going on with the fire and everything today.

I ignored everyone and tried to have a peaceful night so I turned my phone off and I tried to get al little bit of sleep.

Unfortunately, sleep eluded me all night so I got up at around 4am and I got a coffee and I sat on the bench in the kitchen since that was the only thing left to sit on while I was looking out the

window.

All the neighbors were still asleep, but I noticed wolves passing the house pretty frequently. Obviously Asher had sent them to keep an eye on me.

I wasn’t really surprised that he had done that. But I was still worried about everything else that

was going on in the pack and what could be happening at the packhouse.

I watched the sunrise from the kitchen window before I went back upstairs and I had a shower and

got dressed in some clothes that I had left behind at the house.

They were baggy and not the best looking, but I didn’t really care. It was all I had.

I knew that I would have to buy more stuff but I needed a job first.

So once I was ready I went out the front and I got in my crappy car and left the territory.

I drove to college and I went to talk to my professors as soon as they got to school and I offered services as a tutor, which they all seemed interested in.

They had students in all of their classes that could use a little help. And I was more than happy to

help.

I also went to the human town, that the college was located in, after that and I went to as many businesses as possible and even the high school to show them everything I had done and I had a reference from the principal from the pack school about me tutoring students there and the

success rate that I had.

I was hoping to get more tutoring jobs than to work anywhere else, but right now, I was willing to take anything.

I hung around in town all day that day, not doing a whole lot. Mostly avoiding going home.

I knew that I had caused a scene yesterday and everyone was going to be talking about it today. I

didn’t want to have to deal with it

I needed to buy some food so I did that in town before I drove back to the pack.

As soon as I pulled up outside of my house I saw there were a lot of people going in and out of the

house.

I was really confused and I got out of the car with my two bags of groceries and slowly walked

inside.

There were workers inside painting all the rooms and more neutral color and I saw furniture being

delivered to the house as well.

“Hi. You must be Trinity.” A guy said walking over to me.

“Yeah. What the hell is going on here?” I asked.

“Well, we were told that this whole house needed to be painted and furniture was going to be delivered today. Brand new furniture. We’ve been ordered to sort your house out for you.” He said.

“Ordered by who?” I asked, confused.

The Alpha.” He said.

“Why the hell would the Alpha do this for me?” I asked.

“I don’t know, ma’am. I’m just doing as I’m told. Oh, your new fridge is set up in the kitchen and ready to go so you can put your groceries away.” He said.

“Thank you.” I said.

So I went to the kitchen and I put the groceries away and then I turned around and looked at everyone working around my house.

So I walked outside where it was a little quieter and I pulled out my phone.

“Hello.” Alpha Dennis answered.

“Alpha Dennis. It’s Trinity.” I said.

“Oh, hi. I’m guessing you’re home.” He said.

“Yeah. What is all of this?” I asked.

“Well, Arlo told me what you said about the paint on the inside and honestly, I agree with you. Those colors were disgusting for such a nice house.” He said.

“Yeah. They were. But the furniture and everything. I don’t understand.” I said.

“Even if you tutor kids non stop, you’ll never be able to afford furnishing that whole house for at

least a year. And I know that you think you ruined out family. You didn’t. You didn’t do anything wrong so you can stop punishing yourself.” He said.

“Arlo told you?” I asked.

“Don’t blame him. I ordered him to mind link me while he was talking to you.” Alpha Dennis said

Thinking back to the conversation that I had with Arlo, my heart started pounding in my chest and

my palms started feeling sweaty.

“Oh s**t. You heard everything.” I said.

“I did. I’m sorry. I didn’t know that you were going to confess what you did. But, I’m glad that I now know. Trinity, if you’re mated to Asher then that makes you family. At least. You are actually family. So, you will be treated like family. And you aren’t going to work at any of those restaurants or diners that you applied at today.” He said.

“You had someone following me?” I asked.

“No. I actually own all of those businesses. I own most of the businesses in that town.” He said, causing me to shake my head.

“Normally, I would be surprised. But I’m actually not.” I said, making him laugh.

“I do want you to move back to the packhouse eventually. But I know that you don’t want to. Not yet anyway. So, you have your house and everything that you want in it. I just want you to concentrate on college.” He said.

“And what about Asher? You were really mad at him yesterday.” I said.

“I know. That was before I knew the truth. Don’t worry about that now. Just take care of yourself. And Gage will be fine. He doesn’t know yet. I’m respecting what you said to Arlo. We’re not going to say anything. Not until you and Asher are ready for it.” He said.

“Thank you. I appreciate that.” I said.

“Don’t mention it. Just take care of yourself and don’t be a stranger.” He said.

“I’ll try not to be.” I said.

When I got off the phone I went back inside but everyone was working in every room so I headed up to my bedroom.

I knew that the whole house would be finished by the end of work today, even the painting.

Once I walked into my room I put my bag on the floor and I walked over to my desk where my

laptop was Someone had brought my stuff over from the packhouse, but there was something sitting next to the laptop that confused me.

It was a black credit card with a note underneath it.

Don’t argue with me on it. You deserve this. Buy whatever you want. The card is yours to keep
