By 6pm that night everyone finished work for the day so I headed downstairs and I looked at everything they had done.
The whole house was finished. The painting and the decorating. All of the furniture was in place and I couldn’t help but walk around looking at the place. It was actually really nice now.
This was the type of house that I could see myself living in. Not the one that my mother decorated
because it was f*****g horrid.
I went to the kitchen and I started pulling some food out so I could make dinner when someone
knocked on the door.
I walked over to answer it and Asher was standing there.
“Hi.” He said.
“It’s alright. You can come in. I’m not as crazy today.” I said, opening the door wider.
“Who said you were crazy?” He asked, walking inside.
“I know what I looked like the other day. Bat s**t crazy, burning everything that belonged in the
house.” I said.
“Well, you did confuse a lot of people.” He said.
“Good.” I said, walking back towards the kitchen.
“All of your friends have been hanging out of Arlo and Gage’s asses. Wanting to know what’s going on because you haven’t spoken to them.” He said.
“I just don’t know what to say to anyone. They all want to know why I burnt everything in the house.
I can’t tell them the truth. I burnt all that s**t because it reminded me of my abusive family which
none of them knew that I had.” I said.
“I’m not telling you that you need to tell anyone.” Asher said, walking over to the counter next to me and he started helping me with dinner.
I was surprised at first, but then I got back to preparing dinner.
“Well, I’m sure Gage is quick to throw me under the bus.” I said.
“Actually, no. He’s been telling them to piss off and if they really want to know then they can call you.” He said.
“Really? I didn’t expect that.” I said.

“No one did. But that just shows you that he doesn’t hate you. He’s just angry.” Asher said.
“Any brilliant ideas on how to get him back on side?” I asked.
“Unfortunately, no. But he’ll come around. I think he just needs time.” Asher said.

“So, why are you here now? Aren’t you meant to be sitting down eating dinner with your family?” I
asked.
“I was out doing pack business and I didn’t really feel like going home. Not dealing with all of those judgemental faces looking at me over the dinner table.” He said.
“Your dad knows.” I said, causing him to stop what he was doing.
“How the hell does dad know?” He asked.
“Because I told Arlo and he was mind linking your dad. I don’t think the Alpha is going to give you
much trouble now.” I said.
“I didn’t want him to know.” Asher said.
“I know. And I didn’t know that he was listening in. I’m sorry. Arlo came here yesterday when I wasn’t in a very good place. I needed someone to talk to. It just came out. I told him not to tell anyone but he didn’t mention that his father was listening in.” I explained.
“Well, that’s dad. Sneaky son of a bitch.” Asher said.
“I’m sorry.” I said.
“It’s not your fault. Besides, I’d rather be here with you anyway.” He said.
“Yeah. I kind of already know that.” I said.
Asher ended up staying at my place for dinner and afterwards we sat out the back on the patio furniture having a couple of drinks, looking at the huge burn patch in the middle of the backyard.
“You didn’t have to give me that credit card.” I said.
“I know. But I don’t want you working your ass off trying to support yourself while you’re at college and trying to better yourself.” He said, looking me up and down. “But I mean it, get some new damn clothes. You haven’t bought anything new in years.” He said looking at my pretty old shirt.
“Yeah. I should probably think about it.” I said.
My phone then started ringing so I pulled it out of my pants to answer it.
“Hello…hello…is anyone there?” I asked, getting no reply. I looked at Asher and he was looking at
me strangely.

“If you think you’ve won you little b***h, think again.” My mother growled through the phone.
Suddenly Asher snatched the phone off of me as soon as he heard her voice.
“If you ever call here again, I will make sure that it’s the last thing you ever do. Leave Trinity alone. I’m not going to tell you again.” Asher said and he hung up.
“You know, I could have handled that myself.” I said.
“I know. But now she knows that you’ve got the whole Alpha family backing you. If she tries anything, it’ll be a suicide mission.” He said.
“Do you really think that will stop her? She’ll find a way. She f*****g hates me now.” I said.
“Well, you’re not leaving this pack alone.” He said.
“Yeah. I’ve already heard that. But my protector while I’m at school now hates me.” I said.
“That’s why I’ll be taking you.” He said.
“Are you serious?” I asked.
“You’re my main priority right now. You’re in danger and I’m not going to let anything happen to
you.” He said.
“I know Asher. And I appreciate that. But you’re the heir to the pack. You can’t protect me for the rest of your life. You have other responsibilities.” I said.
“My dad gives me the shittiest jobs because he doesn’t think I know what I’m doing as an Alpha.”
Asher said.
“Exactly. This is your turn to step up and shine. You have to. You have to prove to him that this pack will be in good hands when he decides to step down. You need to force your way into those meetings. You have a right to be there. He can’t kick you out of them. Not being the heir. So, you do what you have to do to prove to him that you know what you’re doing.” I said, my voice full of
determination.
He looked at me with a grin on his face before he took another drink of beer.
“You know what. I think you might be a good Luna for this pack afterall.” He smirked.
“I’m not a Luna. I’m a freak who just burnt everything in her house and caused a massive bonfire in her backyard.” I said, making him laugh.
“You had good reason.” He said.
