When I woke up the next morning I could feel a warm body underneath me and when I opened my eyes I realized that my head was resting on Asher’s chest and he had his arm around my waist.
I tried to slowly and careful get up, but it was too late. He was already awake so he tightened his grip around my waist and woundn’t let me up.
“Really?” I asked.
“Yep. I’m really comfortable, right here.” He said.
“Well, I have to get up and get ready.” I said.
“Your classes aren’t until later.” He said.
“That doesn’t mean I’m going to spend the whole day in bed.” I said.
“Not even with me?” He asked.
“Wow. You are really making this hard. Aren’t you?” I asked.
“That’s not the only thing that’s hard.” He smirked and I smacked him on the chest, making him
laugh.
“I told you to control yourself.” I said.
“Believe me, I am controlling myself. Otherwise you’d already be mine. Fully.” He said.
“Don’t you have things to do today? What’s your father doing?” I asked.
“He’s got a meeting with the Beta and the elders this morning.” Asher said.
“So, why are you here? You should be at that meeting.” I said.
“They’re just gonna kick me out as soon as I walk into the room.” He said.
“Don’t f*****g let them.” I said.
“You really don’t see the gray area, do you? It’s all black and white.” He said.
“Because life is black and white. I haven’t seen the gray area in a long time. You’re the future heir and you deserve to be there.” I said.
“I don’t know.” He said. So I poked him in the ribs, causing him to let go of me and I quickly jumped up from the bed.
“Get dressed.” I said.

“What for?” He asked.
“We’re going to the packhouse. Move it.” I said.

So Asher slowly got up, groaning the whole time and I grabbed some clothes to throw on before we left my house and walked to the packhouse.
We found out that the meeting was being held in the office so I walked up the hallway with Asher behind me but I grabbed him and forced him to lead the way.
“Just do what I said. Assert yourself and don’t back down. I’m right here if you need me.” I said.
So Asher knocked on the door and then he opened it to see his dad, the Beta and the pack elders
all looking at him.
“What do you want?” Alpha Dennis asked.
“I’m the heir to the pack which means I have every right to be in this meeting.” Asher said.
“We can handle it without you.” Dennis said.
“And how the hell am I meant to learn how to be Alpha if you won’t teach me? All you do is put me down because I don’t know how to be the Alpha.” Asher said, standing his ground.
“This isn’t anything that you need to worry about. It’s nothing important.” Dennis said.
So Asher looked at me.
“If it’s not important then there shouldn’t be a meeting.” I whispered.
“Why is there a meeting if it’s nothing important?” Asher asked. Causing Dennis to look at his Beta
and the elders.
“He does have a right to be here.” One of the elders said.
“Fine. Come in and shut the door.” Dennis said.
“I’ll be at my house.” I whispered to Asher as he walked into the office and closed the door.
I turned around with a smile on my face and I started walking out of the house. But as soon as I opened the door I was face to face with Gage who had just gotten home.
“Hi.” I said shocked.
“Asher’s not here.” He said.
“Yeah. He is. He’s in that meeting with your dad.” I said.
“Oh. Well, you seem to already know more about this pack than I do.” He said, pushing past me as

he walked inside.
“Gage. Can we please talk?” I asked.
“I have nothing to say to you. Please, just leave.” He said, walking up the stairs.

I watched him as he left and I turned around and walked out the front door and all the way back to my house.
The look in Gage’s eye was horrible. I’d never seen him look at me like that before and I hated it.
We needed to get back on the same page here but we couldn’t do that if he wouldn’t even talk to
Asher didn’t want to tell him that we are mates yet. He thinks that it might send Gage over the
edge.
A few days ago I would said that that it wouldn’t. Gage would be happy for me. But now, I don’t
know what the hell Gage will do.
When I got to my place I had a shower and I got ready for school and I made sure I had everything I
needed.
There was still a bit of time before I had to leave so I went to the kitchen to get something to eat.
It wasn’t long after that when Asher came running into the house and he ran straight over to me
and hugged me.
“Wow. I guess the meeting went well.” I said.
“Dad was being an asshole. He tried to cut me off all the time and wouldn’t let me say anything. But that didn’t stop me. The elders were on my side and they wanted to hear what I had to say. They even liked what I had to say. Thank you so much for forcing me to do that.” He said, hugging
me even tighter.
“Don’t mention it. I’m just glad that it went well.” I said.
“I am taking you out to dinner tonight after school. You deserve it.” He said.
“I didn’t do anything. Except push you out the door.” i said.
“I know. But without that I wouldn’t have been able to stand up to him.” He said.
“I’m really glad that it went well for you.” I said.
Asher stopped with his excitement for a moment while he looked at me.
“What’s wrong? Something’s happened.” He said.

“It’s nothing. Don’t worry about it.” I said.
“No. You’re upset. What about?” He asked.
“I told you. It’s nothing.” I said.
“Trinny. Don’t lie to me.” He said, getting very serious.

I hesitated and went back and forth in my head a few times about wheather or not to tell him. But I
knew he would find out anyway.
“I ran into Gage when I was leaving the packhouse. He still hates me. He’s still looking at me like
I’m a f*****g traitor.” I said.
Asher’s demeanor instantly changed and I saw his eyes changing color as his wolf was trying to
come forward.

“Don’t. Don’t do anything to Gage. He has every right to feel the way that he does.” I said.
“You’re not a traitor. You chose your/mate over him.” Asher said.
“But he doesn’t know that. Remember.” I said.
