Moonlight In Chains (Trinity and Asher) novel Chapter 35

CHAPTER 35

When I woke up the following morning I was lying on my side and I was happy to feel Asher’s arm wrapped around my waist from behind me.

The sun was just rising over the treeline so I knew that it was early but listening to Asher’s breathing, I

knew that he was awake.

He tightened his grip around me before he rolled me over onto my back and he rested on his elbow to

look down at me.

Morning.He said.

Morning.I said. And he leaned down to kiss me.

I felt him rubbing his thumb along my neck. The same spot that he was going to mark me.

I guess he figured that I wasn’t ready for it last night. But I knew that he was more worried about hurting

me or making me uncomfortable. That’s what I could feel from hirn.

But I wrapped my arms around his neck and deepened the kiss.

When I pulled away he rested his forehead on mine and he let out a deep breath.

I have to get back to the packhouse soon.he said.

I know. Alpha duties. You can’t let him down now that you’ve insisted on stepping up.” I said.

Exactly.He said.

So he climbed out of bed and he walked around to my side of the bed and picked me up, causing me to

squeal a little and carried me to the bathroom across the hallway.

We had a shower that morning and we got dressed afterwards.

He had to wear the same clothes that he was wearing last night, and when he headed home I went

downstairs to get a coffee and I sat at the kitchen table to start studying from my class the day before. I

had a bit of work to do with that before I headed to the packhouse myself.

Asher was aware of that and was going to let his mother know that I would be along as soon as I could.

I was in the middle of studying when someone knocked on the door so I got up to answer it and there was

no one there.

I couldn’t pick up a scent of anyone being there, but I saw an envelope on the door step.

I opened it up and it was full of photos taken of myself and Asher.

They were all taken the night before during our date.

But it was obvious that they were taken from someone who was hiding in the woods that was surrounding

the clearing.

*CHAPTER 34

I packed up all my books and I put the photos in my bag and I left the house and headed straight to the

packhouse.

Luna Petra was waiting for me with her female advisors. Women that I wasn’t too keen on because they were always looking down on me. But I didn’t really care.

I looked down the hallway to the office but Luna Petra took me to the conference room and there were kids from the high school sitting in there with their parents.

Apparently there was a lot of fighting happening between these kids and it had been going on for a long

time.

The principal thought it was finally time to get the Luna involved. So she started asking both of the kids a few questions and she made her ruling that they were both to blame and both needed to be punished for

  1. it.

There’s no fighting among pack members and it wasn’t something that the Luna was going to let them get away with, so she gave them 50 hours of community service. They had to check in with the head warrior to receive their assignments.

As soon as I had a spare second I started looking for Asher through the packhouse.

He wasn’t in the office and I started looking around the rest of the house, but I ran into Gage as I was

walking upstairs.

Hey. Are you alright?Gage asked, knowing that there’s something wrong.

Yeah. It’s nothing to worry about.” I said.

Are you looking for Asher? He asked.

Really, it’s not important.I said.

Trinny. I know that I’ve kept my distance and I know that I was a prick to you before that. I’m sorry. I am trying to accept you and Asher.” He said.

I know. And I’m sorry that I didn’t tell you. I didn’t know how. It was complicated.I said.

Arlo explained everything to me. Why Asher left after you turned 18. Everything. And I think that was

pretty stupid. You thinking that you weren’t good enough to be part of our family. He said.

I appreciate you saying that.I said.

Now, I do still know you better than most people. What’s going on?he asked.

I just need to see Asher. Something happened last night and he really needs to know.” I said.

Is it pack related?He asked.

It could be.I said.

Well, he and dad left earlier. I don’t know where they went.He said.

AFTER

ShitI said.

Tell me. I might be able to helpGage said.

I hesitated for a moment before I reached into my bag and I pulled out the photos

Asher took me on a date last night. It was after school. Someone was hiding in the woods wacking on

and taking photos. But what’s worse, these were delivered to my door this morningI said.

So, your parents wouldn’t have been able to deliver them.he said.

No. Someone inside the pack would have had to deliver them.” I said.

Shit.He said.

I then saw him mind linking someone before he got me to follow him downstairs.

We went to the living room and we were only there for a minute before Asher came running into the room.

What’s going on?He asked, looking really concerned. So I handed him the photos.

They were put on my doorstep this morning. Someone in the pack had to do that.I said.

Someone in the pack is helping your parents.Asher said.

If my parents were the ones that did this.I said.

Who else could it have been?Gage asked.

Asher is the future Alpha. Honestly, I think it could have been anyone.I said.

She’s right. We can’t just assume that it’s her parents. That’s asking for trouble and making Trinity exposed to other potential threats.” Asher said.

What do we do?I asked.

I’d like to suggest that you don’t leave the pack again, but I know that’s pointless.Asher said.

I’m not missing school. Not for a couple of f*****g photos.” I said.

I’ll talk to dad and see what he thinks is the best direction here.Asher said.

You’re the future Alpha and she’s your mate. You’re allowed to put any rule into place to protect her. You know that. You don’t need dad’s permission. And you don’t need to get his advice.Gage said.

Alright. You never leave the pack alone. We’re going to make sure that there is extra security going with us when we leave the pack who can watch every person that even looks at you strange.Asher said.

Yeah. Alright.I said.

Do you have class today?Asher asked.

No. Not today. But I’ve got a few classes tomorrow.” I said.

Well, I’ll be with you the whole time. In the classroom. You’re not being left alone for anything and I don’t
