Moonlight In Chains (Trinity and Asher) novel Chapter 45

CHAPTER 45

Sitting on the floor of the damp and mouldy coal mine I could vaguely see the sun setting around the bend towards the door.

I didn’t know what Spencer had planned for me. He hadn’t come to see me or any of these girls since he locked me up.

He sent his minion in to scare me. But that’s nothing less than I expect from him.

I looked around at the girls and they all looked scared to have me in here with them. I was sure that they thought I was going to get them killed.

If I could just find some way to get out of these shackles then I might be able to find a way out of this mine.

I knew that it would take a lot of convincing for them to come with me, and even then, they probably wouldn’t.

I looked up at my wrists that were burning from the silver shackles, but because I had been fighting against them so much, there was now fresh blood running down my arms. Mixing with Asher’s dried blood that was still on me.

I didn’t have time to worry about that. I was trying to pull Lily forward to help me, but I could only hear a faint whimpering in the back of my head. She couldn’t come forward. She was doing everything she could to fight against the silver, but it was too overpowering for her.

I started shaking the chains again to see if they had any give in the wall, but they were stuck in pretty tightly. No matter how much I pulled on them or fought against them, they weren’t budging.

I heard the shallow breathing coming from the other women. I knew that they were scared every time I yanked on the chains.

They made a lot of noise and they didn’t want me to piss of the guards at the mine entrance.

I could understand that. They’ve already been put through a huge ordeal being stuck in here. I mean, none of them can even remember how long they’ve been here for.

But come to think of it, I haven’t seen my parents either. I haven’t heard their voices outside and I haven’t picked up on their scent outside when I was brought here.

Do they even know what Spencer is up to?

I could still hear his evil meniacle laugh echoing in my head. And not just from today. But

from the years of abuse that I suffered at the hands of him with my parents permission. They knew the whole time everything that he was doing to me, but now that I know I’m not their real daughter, him raping me took on a whole new meaning. The abortions that I had weren’t complete abominations like I thought they were.

Don’t get me wrong, there’s no way in hell I would ever give birth to his baby, even if I did know that we weren’t blood related. But I thought they were created out of something a lot more sinister then what they actually were.

I turned to look at Lila beside me. She was slumped down while standing. For some reason, all of their chains were attached to the wall a lot higher than mine were so they couldn’t sit down.

But the look of hopelessness on her face and the resignation that she was never going to get out of here really pissed me off. It didn’t make me upset for them. It pissed me off.

They can’t give up like this. They need to have hope.

If I wasn’t taken in by Asher and his family then I would probably look just like them. If I didn’t think there was any hope of escaping my family, then I would look the same. I probably did for a long time. And that’s what scared me.

Did I actually have that look on my face while I was living with them?

Lila.I whispered.

Shush. They’re listening.She whispered back.

I know they are. You can’t give up. None of us can give up. Spencer can’t keep us here

forever.I said.

He already has.She said.

Why did he take you? Did he just see you on the street and want you?I asked.

No. My dad pissed him off.She said.

Who’s your father?I asked.

“Alpha Martin.She said.

An Alpha. That makes sense.” I said.

It does?She asked.

Yeah. You’re here for a reason to. It’s to punish your father for pissing him off. What did Spencer want from your father?I asked.

I don’t know. I was never told anything about the Alpha deals that my father was making.

She said.

Is he corrupt?I asked.

No. Not that I know of. Why would you ask that? She asked.

I just assumed that if he was dealing with Spencer then it definitely wouldn’t have been on the up and up.i said.

He’s not corrupt.She said.

Well, that’s why he pissed Spencer off. Spencer wanted your father to do something that he wouldn’t do. And you’re the one paying the price.I said.

We all come from prominent families. All of us girls in here.” She said.

How old are you?I asked.

15.She said.

Alright. Well, listen, I know your family has be looking for you.I said.

I know they are. But they won’t find me here. And if they do, Master isn’t going to let me go unless my father agrees to his terms. She said.

I know. He’ll try and get what he wants. But not if we get out of here first. You can save your pack.” I said.

No. I can’t. I’m not strong like the rest of my family. She said.

You have Alpha blood. You’re strong.I said.

No. I’m not. I’m the youngest. I was always sick. I’m weak. That’s why I was the easiest to take. She said.

As I was standing there talking to her, I started feeling like I was going to be sick.

I looked away from her for a minute and I started leaning over, coughing like I was going to throw up.

I then let out a blood curdling scream as I fell to the ground, my arms were still above my head.

The guards and Spencer ran in to see what was going on and they stood over me as I was leaning down as far as possible trying to stop the pain in my chest and stomach. But nothing I did could stop it.
