Seeing it was Lionel, Samuel immediately turned and sprinted back to their car.
“It’s your husband! He’s trying to run us off the road! He wants to kill us and inherit your fortune!” he yelled dramatically as he reached the car door, pointing at Lionel. “That monster! He never tried to kill you before you rejoined the Temple family, but now that you have, he resorts to this! This is terrifying!”
Hannah had nearly hit her head on the windshield. She was still disoriented and hadn't seen who the driver was until she heard Samuel's theatrical screams.
She shook her head slightly to clear it, saw Lionel, and calmly got out of the car, phone in hand.
“Lionel, are you insane? This is a four-lane road! What do you think you’re doing, deliberately cutting us off?” As she spoke, the person on the other end of the line answered.
“Hello? I’d like to report a case of aggressive driving. Someone intentionally cut us off and nearly caused a fatal accident. We’re on…”
Lionel, who had been about to respond, froze, completely stunned by her actions.
Samuel was equally shocked, then burst into admiration. Damn, that’s my sister! She’s amazing! “Samuel, get back in the car,” Hannah said, her voice firm. “We will not be communicating with you until the police arrive. You can save whatever you have to say for them.” She gestured for Samuel to get back in the driver's seat. He had wanted to give Lionel a piece of his mind, but since his sister had a better plan, he happily complied.
They both got back in the car, slamming and locking the doors with a speed that gave Lionel no chance to speak.
Inside the car, Samuel watched Lionel standing awkwardly on the road and burst out laughing. “Seriously, how do you even think of these things? This is hilarious!”
Samuel wished he had called the paparazzi. A photo of this scene would not only get Lionel crucified online, it would probably tank the Rosenberg Group’s stock.
“Why waste time talking to an idiot?” Hannah said dismissively.
Hannah explained the story behind the necklace.
After hearing it, Samuel glared daggers at Lionel outside.
Lionel realized Hannah had no intention of getting out of the car. The car was soundproof, so anything he said would be useless.
He tried knocking on the window, but they both ignored him.
He was left standing there, embarrassed, waiting for the police to arrive.
When the officers came, they reviewed the dashcam footage, confirmed Lionel’s traffic violation, gave him a ticket, and a two-hundred-dollar fine.
