Laila brows twitch in visible annoyance.

She sets the glass down harshly, a little too hard that it slips right off the edge, shattering and spilling water all over the kitchen floor.
Her shoulders stiffen, and she glances towards the stairs. I see her worry first, her concern that Liam might have been disturbed by the sound and would walk in on us fighting.
She waits a moment, and then the concern fades, replaced by displeasure.
Still, she doesn’t speak. Instead she busies herself with grabbing paper towels to clean up the mess.
I don’t know how the mess is important to her right now when she’s literally messing with my head. Scrambling my thoughts and making me question my sanity.
Call it sick, but her nonchalance makes me even harder. My dick strains against my pants, begging to be freed
and buried in Laila’s warmth.
My hands clench tightly. “That’s your answer then? Silence?”
I close the distance between us with just a few steps. And I don’t stop until I’m pressed up against her back, close enough I can feel the heat of our bodies mix. Her scent floods my senses, an intoxicating blend of jasmine and dew.
She gasps quietly at the feel of my arousal against her, and she tries to move away but my hands find her hips, resting there as I lean against her ears,
“You stood there and let him talk to Liam. Right in front of me. And you didn’t stop him…you didn’t stop him, Laila.”
I’m scolding her. At least I think I am. Yet the curve of her neck looks so delectable from this close and I can’t resist the urge. My tongue darts out for a taste, trailing up the side of her neck.
Laila stiffens. She draws in a deep, shaky breath, but still says nothing.
“Look at me, Laila.” I demand, my hand cupping her throat.
Slowly, like it cost her everything, she turns her head, her eyes finally meeting mine. And for a moment, just a second, I’m taken aback by what I see in them.
Exhaustion, anger….resentment.
But then her jaw tightens “What do you want from me, Kael? To fight Cameron in the middle of a crowd? To cause a scene so everyone can see that I’m over him and obsessed with you?”
“Or do you want the opposite? Do you want me to actually move to Cameron so you get to say he’s a villain?

Do you want me to seduce him and then fuck him in our bed so you have a justification to kill him?!”
“You think I care what you think?!” My voice is sharper than I intend, laced with anger. “I care that you let him come close, I care that you don’t push him back when he reaches for what’s mine.”
Her eyes narrow at that. “You push me to him when you want him to squirm, and warm me off when you’re feeling possessive.”
“You don’t own me, Kael. You don’t get to push me around as you please.”
“Yes, I do,” I growl lowly, hefting her to sit on the counter in one swift move. “Don’t lie to yourself… and don’t lie to me.”
Her lips part, trembling with words she’d probably planned to keep down. But she says it anyway. “And Julie? Did you own her too?”
I freeze. My jaw clenches, and we both fall silent. The only sound being my heavy, ragged breaths.
There it is.
She did know about Julie. She’s known since that night.
Rather than the guilt or perhaps apologetic reaction she must have expected,
My eyes narrow, lips curving into a smirk. “So that’s it. That’s what’s been eating you alive.”
She glares at me, her brows twitching in annoyance. “It’s not eating me alive. You do what you please… that’s always been your way, Kael.”
I nod slowly. “Exactly. Kael does as Kael pleases. The entire continent knows that.”
“Throwing Julie in my face doesn’t make you the righteous one, Laila.” My voice is calmer now, eerily so. “You stand there and pretend like what you did that day and tonight aren’t worse.”
I lean in close, my lips brushing dangerously close to hers.
Laila scoffs beneath her breath. “You touched her, Kael.” She turns her head away from me, inhaling a sharp breath. “While you had me.”
I frown slightly. Maybe it wasn’t the best decision to take Julie to bed. I didn’t even take her… she was just there.
But Laila turning this on me, like she didn’t ignore me on that night aggravates me.
“And?” I ask blankly. “I never promised you fidelity. I’m not Cameron. I don’t do the vows, the oaths and the pretty words. I never vowed to be yours alone.”
Cupping her throat, I turn her gaze back to me,
“I promised you nothing but what I could and have given you Laila. You knew that. From the start.”

She flinches, her face going pale. “So I’m just supposed to accept it? Pretend it’s nothing?” She turns away from me yet again.
A low growl rumbles in my chest. I hate it when she does that.
“It was nothing. It is nothing.” I enunciate clearly,
“You’re my wife and she is nothing. But if you’re so stuck on her…” My fingers grip her chin roughly, forcing her to meet my eyes, “then I’ll make it up to you. Give you something better than Julie got.”
I take her hand with my free hand, moving it down to cup my bulge. “It’s still here…all of it.”
Her breath hitches, fury flashing in her eyes. “You disgust me” she hisses, slapping my hand away from her throat.
But her voice is shaky, and her hand still held over my bulge trembles in mine.
“Maybe,” I shrug casually. “But you’re still here. Because deep down…you love the thrill of being desired by not one, but two Blackwoods.”
Laila flushes.
“Deep down Laila…you love making Cameron squirm. You say it’s all me…you say I push you to him, but I see behind your innocent smile.”
“I see how you slip into his head without him even realizing it. At the boardroom, at Axis Loft, just a moment ago…I see how you give him just enough attention to keep him thirsty…”
“I see how you weave your slow and silent web of vengeance, sending home to Sarah a man hard and aching for you. So you’re all that’s on his mind when he fucks his wife.”
“You don’t want to ruin Cameron. You want to ruin Sarah… and you’re buying his hands, his desire for you, to get to her. Just as she did to you for three years.”
Her eyes flash with something. A mix of anger and indignation.
“I see your web, Laila Blackwood. My brother is already caught in it…” I trail off, grinding my bulge into her hand.
“And so am I. But the difference is… I walked in willingly.”
Her brows twitch visibly. The mask of calm she’s had on slipping just enough to let me know I’d finally figured
her out.
“And now, the web is mine. And so are you. You want to have your way with Cameron? You’ll do it on my terms… and mine alone.”
