Chapter 194
Skye’s POV
“I’m fine,” I said, gently pulling away from Lydia’s embrace.
“This is all my fault! I should have gone to the bathroom with you!” Lydia’s eyes were wide with concern, her hands still gripping my shoulders.
“Really, I’m okay,” I assured her.
Lydia frowned. “Ryder told us what happened. I can’t believe Victor turned out to be Nadia’s mate.”
I shrugged. “Everyone has secrets they don’t want others to know.”
Both Lydia and Garrett nodded in understanding, their expressions solemn. The air in the hotel lobby felt heavy with unspoken truths.
Garrett cleared his throat. “A lot of things… I wasn’t intentionally keeping them from everyone. I promise I completely trust every member of the Oasisborn Pack.” He hesitated. “It’s just that some things, I don’t know how to talk about them.”
Adrian stepped forward, placing a reassuring hand on Garrett’s shoulder. “I understand, man.”
“Actually, there’s something I’m not sure if Ryder mentioned on the phone,” I said nervously. “That Rogue who helped me, Beck? He and two other Rogues will be joining Oasisborn Pack.”
Garrett’s lips curved into a smile. “He helped you, so returning the favor is only right.”
I took a deep breath before adding, “Beck is Kane’s cousin… they look very similar.”
I knew Garrett had secretly harbored feelings for Nadia for years. The last thing he would want was to see a face resembling Kane’s every
day.
Garrett fell silent. After a moment, he looked at Adrian and me. “I respect and trust your decisions.”
Adrian nodded firmly. “Don’t worry. If they cause trouble or break Oasisborn Pack rules, I’ll kick them out immediately.”
“Fair enough,” Garrett said with a nod, then changed the subject. “I’ve prepared all the materials for the final trial. Let me grab them for
you.”

Late that night, our hotel room was dimly lit by a single warm yellow wall lamp.
Adrian sat on the edge of the bed, shirtless, his black hair still damp from the shower. A droplet of water slid down his sculpted collarbone onto his chest. I sat beside him, spreading out a thick folder containing information about the “Alpha King Final Trial.”
“Every final trial is different,” I said. “Last time, the theme was ‘The People’s Choice. Candidates had to solve the most frequently asked problem by citizens, then people voted for the best answer.”

Chapter 194
Adrian leaned closer. “What was the question?”
“How to solve the uneven distribution of medical resources. Candidates had to provide an actual solution on the spot, not just give a speech. I turned another page. “Another year, they had one–on–one duels. Not just about winning though. They judged who could maintain the best balance between strength, rationality, and emotions.”
I looked up at Adrian. “Alpha Thomas won because his family owns medical businesses. He already had access to plenty of medical resources, so he performed better than the other Alphas in that final trial.”
Adrian’s lip curled slightly. “But after taking office, he never actually solved the problem of uneven medical resource distribution. Many wolf warriors from poor areas have died because they couldn’t get timely treatment.” His voice grew bitter. “Wolves like Marcus, born blind or with other disabilities, don’t get the help they need as children. They’re abandoned in large numbers.”
I reached for his hand, squeezing it gently. “We can change all that. I know we can.”
Looking at these materials, I couldn’t help but worry for Adrian.
“The final trial can only be attended by Alphas alone,” I said quietly. “We can’t fight alongside you.”
“You’ve all done so much for me already, especially you.” Adrian wrapped his arm around my neck and kissed my forehead.
I gave him a gentle push. “Focus, please!”
