My Great Escape Led Me to You (Emily Blair) novel Chapter 1021

Just like Emily guessed, the Austins looked furious. Mrs. Austin opened her mouth, ready to argue, but nothing came out. She knew Emily was right.

Isabella had chosen her own path, no one forced her into it, no one lured her. The whole twisted scheme was her idea from the start.

Emily finished, “I’m not going to accept being called morally corrupt. If someone like Isabella, who goes after others for money and revenge, isn’t corrupt in your eyes, then I definitely don’t count. By your standards, I might as well be an angel.”

Mrs. Austin’s face flushed with anger. She glared at Emily, her words stuck somewhere between her brain and her lips.

Emma just stared at Emily, looking a little lost.

Emily glanced to the side. “Mr. Gomez, Ms. Silva, are you planning to watch the whole show?”

Everyone turned to look. In the corner stood Benjamin Gomez and Juliana Silva.

Who knew how long they’d been listening, but neither of them looked happy. Juliana had that kind of scowl that could cut glass, her eyes on Emily, both furious and helpless, almost a little dangerous.

Mrs. Austin caught sight of them, and when she noticed Juliana’s eyes—so much like Isabella’s—her heart softened for a second, but her hatred for Emily only grew.

Emma couldn’t take her eyes off Juliana.

Juliana, caught by surprise, didn’t have time to fix her expression. When she tried, it just made her look awkward and stiff.

Emily walked right over, and before Juliana could react, took her hand and looked at her palm. She spoke gently, like she genuinely cared, “You scratched your hand last time, remember? Let me check if it’s healed.”

They were standing close, Emily’s hand over Juliana’s, and the whole thing looked surprisingly intimate.

Mrs. Austin frowned, sensing something off.

Everyone else was just confused by Emily’s sudden shift.

Emily studied Juliana’s palm. There was a thin, scabbed line across the pale skin.
