My Great Escape Led Me to You (Emily Blair) novel Chapter 1034

Andrew didn’t answer right away.

Isabella pressed on, her voice trembling as if she was hurting herself just by asking. “Is it Emily Blair?”

She could feel the answer before he said anything. The sting of being rejected by him made her want to lash out, to make him feel even a fraction of her pain.

“Isn’t it funny? You told me, right to my face, that you didn’t like Emily Blair. You said it more than once. Back then, everyone could see how much she liked you. Do you even remember what you said to her? What you did? You called her feelings disgusting, said she wasn’t good enough for you. You even helped me mess with her, went out of your way to push her away. Did you forget all that? Or did it only hit you after she finally gave up, after she stopped looking at you? Is that when you realized you actually cared?”

“You might have forgotten, but I haven’t. I actually believed you when you said you didn’t like her. And I know Emily remembers, too. She’s the one who got hurt. People like her, they don’t just forget. She’ll hold onto what you said, what you did, for the rest of her life. Do you really think you have any chance of getting her back?”

“So what if you like her now? She has a boyfriend. They’re happy. You lost your chance. You did so many awful things to her. I’d bet anything she’ll never forgive you. Not ever.”

For a moment, Isabella felt almost triumphant, like she’d finally found a way to make him hurt the way she did. She wanted him to feel what it was like to love someone who had no room in their heart for you.

“Andrew Lane, you and I are just the same. Pathetic. I can never make you look at me the way I want, and you’ll never get Emily Blair back, no matter how much you want her.”
