"She's not his girlfriend. She's mine."
A clean, steady voice rang out, sharp and unmistakable, with a hint of impatience.
The nurse glanced up, just in time to see another ridiculously handsome guy step through the door. He was tall, with sharp features and movie-star looks, but right now his eyes were locked on Andrew in the bed, full of annoyance and barely suppressed anger.
For a second, the nurse just stared, a little dazzled. Then the meaning of his words hit her, and she picked up on the crackling tension in the room between the two men.
Wow. Was this a real-life love triangle? If she could, she’d call all her friends to come watch these two stunning guys go head-to-head over a girl.
She had already swapped out the IV, but she didn’t want to leave. She slowed her movements, pretending to tidy up while she listened as discreetly as she could.
The guy from the doorway walked in, clutching his phone, his face unreadable as he stared at Andrew.
Andrew looked thrown off by his sudden appearance. His voice turned cold. "Why are you back already?"
He’d checked the schedule. Tristan Davis wasn’t supposed to be back for at least another three months.
Tristan’s expression was frosty, his words even colder. "If I hadn’t come back, you might have stolen my girlfriend."
The nurse’s heart was practically racing. She kept her head down, soaking in every word.
Andrew’s reply was hard to read. "That’s how little you trust her?"
The nurse kept pretending to organize things, picking items up only to put them right back down, not really doing anything at all.
