My Great Escape Led Me to You (Emily Blair) novel Chapter 815

The boutique staff finished tidying up, and the living room suddenly felt much more spacious. Standing next to the mountain of clothes Emily Blair had picked out, one of the employees asked, “Ms. Blair, would you like us to put these away for you?”

Emily eyed the two racks crammed with new outfits, feeling a headache coming on. There was no way her bedroom closet could handle all that. After a moment’s hesitation, she told them to just leave everything in the guest room for now.

The staff did as instructed, then asked if there was anything else they could help with. When Emily shook her head, they gathered up the large bags and made their way out.

Emma George, ever the supervisor, was right on her daughter’s case. “You’ve got that dinner tonight, remember? Go try on some of these and see which one works. Come on, get moving.”

Emily groaned, flopping onto the couch in surrender. “Mom, please, just let me rest. I just want to lie here for a minute.”

Emma wasn’t having it. She reached past Elizabeth Wilson and gave Emily a gentle nudge. “Up. No excuses. Go.”

Emily hugged a throw pillow over her ears and pretended not to hear a thing.

In the middle of it all, Elizabeth couldn’t help but laugh. “Mrs. George, maybe let her be. The more you push, the less she’ll want to go. Just let her veg out for a bit.”

Emma frowned, muttering, “That won’t do at all. Elizabeth, you should keep an eye on her too.”

“Keep an eye on what, exactly?”

With all the clothes coming and going, the front door had been left wide open for convenience. Right then, Tristan Davis walked in, sidestepping the busy staff as he entered.

He glanced at their uniforms, immediately recognizing the brand—the same one Emily wore all the time.

Looking up, he smiled. “Doing some shopping, huh?”

The moment Elizabeth saw Tristan, her heart skipped a beat. A rush of excitement, nerves, and awkwardness washed over her. Of course they were shopping. Emily was buying clothes to meet her blind date. Was Tristan planning to tag along?

She shot a nervous glance at Tristan, then at Emily, then around the room, fidgeting the whole time.

Tristan turned to the other two, offering a polite, “Mrs. George.”

Emma averted her eyes, mumbling a vague greeting in the general direction of the wall.

Tristan blinked in confusion.

Emma didn’t miss a beat, announcing, “I’ve got things to do. You young people go ahead and talk. I’ll be in my room.” With that, she swept out, closing her bedroom door behind her.

Tristan glanced at Emily, a little helpless. Emily just shrugged. “Have a seat.”

He settled onto the couch, only for Elizabeth to read the room and scurry over to the armchair across from them.

As Tristan sat down, his gaze landed on a few documents spread out on the coffee table.
