My Great Escape Led Me to You (Emily Blair) novel Chapter 890

“Don’t you dare stir up any trouble,” Emily Blair warned her, her tone sharp.

Elizabeth Wilson shot her a reassuring look. “Relax, I won’t cause any drama.”

Yeah, right.

Emily watched her suspiciously for a moment before finally looking away.

Meanwhile, Elizabeth could feel her phone buzzing nonstop in her pocket. She fought hard to keep a straight face, but the corners of her mouth inevitably twitched upward. She unlocked her phone and, unsurprisingly, was met with a flood of messages from Tristan Davis.

She couldn’t help but smirk. Tristan was in full-blown panic mode, firing off wild guesses about which of Emily’s admirers had made a move, spamming her with messages and demanding answers like a man possessed.

Elizabeth stared at the endless list of names he’d rattled off, utterly speechless. Honestly, it seemed like Tristan knew more about Emily’s suitors than Emily herself did.

She even spotted the name of a guy who’d only chased after Emily for two or three days—how did Tristan even remember him?

This was getting ridiculous.

As Elizabeth gawked at the screen, her phone started to ring. Tristan was calling now.

Without a second thought, she hung up, then flashed Emily a guileless smile when Emily glanced over. Once Emily turned away, Elizabeth ducked her head and began typing a reply.

Elizabeth Wilson: *Alright, stop calling and stop guessing. You haven’t gotten a single one right.*

Tristan Davis: *Then who is it?*

Tristan Davis—the new Deputy General Manager, and the only grandson of the company’s chairman—had just transferred in. It was no secret he was being groomed as the sole heir to the family business.

Despite his pedigree, not everyone at the office was pleased about his sudden arrival. The head of the IT department, Ms. Anderson, was the most resentful of all.

By her plan, she should have been next in line for the Deputy GM position. But Tristan’s arrival had slammed that door shut for good. Until he moved up, her own advancement was stuck in limbo.

Most people around the office knew Ms. Anderson only pretended to be respectful to the chairman’s grandson. Behind his back, she’d complained about him more times than anyone could count.

She’d been with the company for years, building up a loyal inner circle among the old guard. On certain projects, Ms. Anderson would rally her veteran team to push back against Tristan, always under the guise of “what’s best for the company.”

But Tristan hadn’t responded the way she expected. Instead of floundering, he handled every challenge with composure and precision. Not only did he resolve issues flawlessly, but he also won over the staff in the process. Suddenly, people around the office were seeing Mr. Davis in a whole new light.
