My Great Escape Led Me to You (Emily Blair) novel Chapter 974

Larkin Porter’s eyes widened in outrage. “Why? All I did was say a few words, and you’re firing me?”

The boss, wanting nothing more than to get Larkin out of sight, shot a pointed look at a few employees, silently instructing them to escort him out.

Larkin struggled fiercely, but he was no match for the combined strength of several grown men. As they dragged him away, he kept shouting like a rabid dog, making a scene until he was finally gone.

Juliet Thomas turned to them, her tone apologetic. “Mr. Lane, Ms. Blair, I’m truly sorry about all of this. Please rest assured, he won’t be bothering you again.”

Emily Blair spoke softly, “I understand, Ms. Thomas. This wasn’t your fault—really, it’s fine.”

Juliet glanced at Andrew Lane, still clearly embarrassed. “The fault lies with my management. If I may, I’d like to make it up to you both by personally preparing a special dinner as an apology.”

Emily offered a polite smile. “That’s very kind, Ms. Thomas, but there’s really no need to trouble yourself.”

Andrew Lane, standing nearby, gave Emily a subtle nudge with his chin. “Maybe we should take her up on it.”

Emily’s brow creased ever so slightly.

Juliet caught on quickly and gave a grateful nod. “Very well, I won’t make arrangements. If either of you need anything, just let our staff know—we’ll do our best to take care of it.”

With that, the group exchanged a few more words before parting ways, each heading off to fish in their own spot.

After Juliet left, Emily soon reeled in another fish.

From beside her, Andrew Lane spoke in a low, teasing tone. “Ms. Blair, am I allowed to talk now?”

Emily didn’t bother to hide her irritation. “Your mouth is on your own face, Mr. Lane. I’m not in charge of it, am I?”

Andrew chuckled softly. “Is this because someone got the wrong idea about us, and that upset you?”
