Her deep eyes shimmered, as if brimming with unshed tears, yet they held a natural, gentle warmth.
Rebekah Fletcher shook her head and quickly thanked him. "I'm fine, thank you."
Caleb Powell looked down at her. He had only ever seen her in photographs, and this was the first time he was seeing her in person. Just as he'd imagined, she was even more beautiful than her pictures.
"Mr. Forrester doesn't seem to treat his wife with the same adoration the media claims," Blaze Powell's crisp voice cut in from the side, his tone dripping with undisguised sarcasm.
Rebekah frowned. His voice was strikingly similar to the one she'd heard on the phone. She couldn't help but look at him.
Blaze had striking, chiseled features. His face was a canvas of sharp angles and refined lines, framed by almond-shaped eyes that tilted slightly upwards. Just standing there, he exuded a commanding presence.
Sensing her gaze, Blaze turned to her and offered a slight smile. A shiver ran down Rebekah's spine. It couldn't be. Was he really…
Benjamin Forrester, hearing Blaze's remark, quickly tried to explain. "We've had a bit of a disagreement recently. I apologize for the scene, President Powell."
He then shot a venomous glare at Rebekah and hissed under his breath, "What are you still standing here for? Let's go."
Still reeling from shock, Rebekah didn't register his words. Benjamin reached for her arm again, but Caleb stepped between them, blocking his path. He looked up, his eyes cold as he stared down Benjamin.
"Touch her again. I dare you."
Benjamin's brow furrowed. Why were the Powells defending Rebekah?
Benjamin seized the opportunity. "President Powell, could you give me just ten minutes? I'm confident you'll be interested in the project once you hear the proposal."
Blaze's gaze fell on Benjamin, his expression once again stern and unyielding. "And what makes you think I would waste ten minutes of my time listening to you?"
The remark was utterly dismissive. Benjamin was so stunned by his bluntness that he stood frozen for a few seconds.
Blaze's eyes flickered between Benjamin and Candice before settling on Candice. "You just accused Miss Fletcher of having an affair, yet you and Mr. Forrester seem awfully close. Isn't that the pot calling the kettle black? The Powell Group will never partner with a man of such low character."
Though Blaze often appeared aloof, he was rarely so harsh. Today, his words were direct and loaded with emotion. Benjamin's face was darker than a thundercloud.
