My Luna Became An Alpha After I Rejected Her novel Chapter 42

Chapter 42

While Aiden was still growling at James, the front door opened and Alpha Alaric walked in. His face was carved in stone, unreadable.

“Father,” Aiden muttered.

Alaric paused, exhaling sharply before turning to face him. “How is she alive? And not just alive, an Alpha now, the very doctor this pack needs.” His eyes burned into Aiden. “Damn it, Aiden. This is fate punishing you. And not only you, your mistakes will make us all suffer.”

Aiden’s throat tightened. He wanted to argue, but no words came.

Alaric’s tone was firm, unyielding. “I don’t care how you do it. Talk to her. Make her treat your mother, and every sick soul in this pack. If you must beg, manipulate, claw your way back into her trust, do it. But don’t you dare fail.” With that, Alaric turned and walked out, heading back to the hospital where his wife was..

Aiden sank back, stunned. Manipulate her? The woman he’d seen tonight wasn’t Amelia.

Amelia had been soft, warm, her eyes full of love. This woman’s gaze had been fire and ice, hatred and rage staring him down.

She wouldn’t be swayed easily. His father was right: this was the Moon Goddess punishing him for his wrong doings.

He rose, intending to retreat into his study, when he froze. The house was too quiet. Sofia and Ethan weren’t home. His chest clenched. He then remembered He’d left them behind.

“Where’s my family?” he snapped at James.

James frowned. “I thought they were with you.”

“They’re not! I left them at the hall.” Aiden dragged a hand through his hair. “I forgot them… damn it, Amelia’s return, it’s driving me insane.”

“I’ll go find them,” James said quickly.

“Do it,” Aiden muttered, collapsing into his chair again. But his thoughts refused to let go.

Her face in that burgundy gown, her emerald eyes burning with power… and pain. He had broken her. Now the guilt pressed on him heavier than it ever had before and worse of all, he doesn’t know what to do.

Meanwhile, James searched for hours, scouring the roads, the gates, questioning guards. At last, one security guard confessed: Sofia had left with a man in a red car. James’s gut twisted. Had she been taken? Or had she gone willingly?

By the time he returned to the mansion, exhaustion took him, and he dozed off in his car. When he woke, dawn was breaking.

“Shit,” he cursed under his breath, hurrying out.

As he reached the front door, Aiden emerged, fully dressed in a suit, tension etched on his face.

The doubt in Aiden’s stare made Sofia nervous, but she kept her voice smooth.

“You should rest,” he said finally, stepping past her.

“And where are you going, dressed like this?” Sofia’s voice carried a hint of accusation.

“To the hospital,” Aiden said flatly. “The pack needs me. My mother needs me.” Without another glance, he entered his car and drove off.

Sofia stood seething. Since when does he care about visiting his mother? He hadn’t gone once in months, but suddenly Amelia returned and he was running to the hospital. She clenched her fists. Amelia had already begun ruining everything… ruining her marriage, her position, her life.

This time, Sofia promised herself she would end it for good and make sure she gets rid of her this time.

Ethan tugged at her hand, eyes weary. “Come on, baby,” she muttered, forcing calm. “Let’s go inside.”

James, however, wasn’t convinced. The guards had said a man picked her up. Her “friend’s car” was a lie.

Was she cheating on Aiden? The thought simmered in his mind, but he shoved it aside.

Right now, he needed to follow Aiden to the hospital. Wherever his Alpha went, as his Beta he had to be there.
