My Luna Became An Alpha After I Rejected Her novel Chapter 48

Chapter 48

Cassia stood by the door to her son’s room, her hand on the knob, debating if it was the right time to go in.

Arthur had seen too much since they arrived at Red Moon Pack, and her heart ached knowing he must have questions, especially about why he looked so much like Aiden.

The thought of Aiden made her temples throb.

Finally, she pushed the door open and slipped inside. Arthur lay on the bed, eyes closed, breathing steady. He was asleep. Cassia’s heart softened. Her little boy, her joy, her anchor. She would do anything to protect him.

Closing the door gently, she moved to sit beside him. She brushed her fingers through his hair, caressing him tenderly.

Her thoughts drifted back to Eva. She remembered how happy Eva had been when she learned about the pregnancy, how she had predicted it would be a boy, and even named him before he was born. The cruel world had robbed Eva of her innocence, her life…

Tears welled in Cassia’s eyes. She let them fall silently. I will find who did this to you, Eva. They will pay.

“Mommy…” Arthur’s small voice broke her reverie. His eyes were open now.

“I’m sorry, honey. I didn’t mean to wake you,” she said quickly, wiping her tears and forcing a smile. “Go back to sleep.”

But Arthur had already seen tears in her eyes.

“Mommy, are you crying?”

“What? No, of course not,” she laughed lightly.

“Yes, you were. I saw the tears. Is it because Alpha Aiden and Uncle Damien fought? I’m sorry, Mommy,” he said, sitting up.

Cassia’s chest tightened. Why is he apologizing? Guilt stung her.

“No, sweetheart, it’s not that. And don’t ever apologize, you’ve done nothing wrong.” She smoothed his hair, but Arthur just stared, thoughtful and quiet.

“Are we really leaving Red Moon Pack?” he asked suddenly. “What about the sick people? Aren’t you going to help them?”

“What? No, we’re not leaving. And yes, Mommy is going to cure them,” she assured him, forcing warmth into her voice.

Arthur’s face lit up with a smile. Relief softened Cassia’s heart. Seeing her son happy gave her strength.

But then, his next question froze her blood.

“It’s… complicated, honey,” she whispered.

“Alpha Aiden said the same thing.”

Rage roared inside her. She clenched her fists, and bit her lips hard. I’ll kill you for this, Aiden. How dare you tell him anything?

“You should sleep now, Arthur. Mommy is tired and has work tomorrow,” she said, pressing a soft kiss to his cheek.

“Okay, Mommy.” He closed his eyes and drifted back to sleep.

Cassia tucked the duvet around him and lingered for a moment, watching his peaceful face. Then she slipped out, closing the door quietly behind her.

Outside, she leaned against the wall, her hand pressed over her racing heart.

What if Aiden finds out Arthur is his son?

The thought clawed at her chest. She couldn’t allow it. She wouldn’t. For Arthur’s safety, Aiden must never know the truth.

Now she has to find a way for Arthur not to see Aiden anymore.
