“He’s probably just confused, mistook someone,” Oriana murmured under her breath, her mind racing with uncertainty.

With Micah’s hands finally free of distractions, he effortlessly intertwined his fingers with hers, gripping her hand with a possessive warmth that sent a flutter through her chest.
Oriana muttered softly, her voice barely above a whisper, as she noticed his silence. She tilted her head, trying to catch a glimpse of his thoughts.
“What’s going on in that head of yours, Micah?” she asked, curiosity piquing her interest.
“Nothing much,” he replied, his voice distant, “I just wondered if I interrupted you while you were adding contacts earlier.”
A wave of realization crashed over Oriana as she slapped her forehead in exasperation. “Oh right! I completely forgot to add him.”
“Don’t worry about it. It’s not urgent,” Micah reassured her, his grip on her hand tightening, almost as if he were afraid to let go. “You can add Dr. Rodriguez the next time you see him.”
Oriana nodded, feeling comforted by his presence. They were on their way to the city center mall, a trip to Caldwell Manor scheduled for tomorrow at noon. Today, however, was dedicated to selecting the perfect gift for Noah.
As they drove, Oriana’s mind wandered through a maze of possibilities. “What do you think Mr. Caldwell would like? Coffee? Fishing gear? Or perhaps something for his garden?” she pondered aloud, her brow furrowing in thought.
Micah smiled faintly, a glimmer of amusement in his eyes. “He has everything he needs already. What matters most is the thought behind the gift—he’ll appreciate that more than anything else.”
Oriana considered his words, finding a kernel of truth in them. The thoughtfulness behind a gift often held more weight than the gift itself.
Their first stop was the rooftop dining area, where they settled in for lunch. Oriana ordered the restaurant’s renowned grilled fish along with two specialty dishes, then excused herself to freshen up in the restroom.
No sooner had she stepped out than two flamboyantly dressed women approached Micah, their eyes sparkling with mischief.
“Handsome, all alone?” one of them purred, her tone dripping with flirtation.
In an instant, Micah’s demeanor shifted. The warmth he had shown Oriana evaporated, replaced by a chilling glare. “Leave,” he spat, his voice low and dangerous.
Startled, the women exchanged glances before retreating, their confidence deflated by his icy resolve.
Kieran, who had been observing from a distance, approached cautiously. “Mr. Caldwell, would you like me to clear the area?” he inquired, sensing the tension.

Micah pinched the bridge of his nose, trying to rein in his irritation. “It’s fine. Oriana likes a lively atmosphere,” he replied, though his tone suggested otherwise.
Kieran remained silent, sensing that Micah’s patience was wearing thin.
