**Chapter 149: Luna’s Fury**
The minor incident that had occurred earlier did little to dampen Oriana’s spirits as she sat down for the meal. In fact, her mood was buoyant, a bright contrast to the chaos that had just unfolded.
After washing their hands at the public sinks outside, she and Micah made their way back to the table. The aroma of the dishes wafted through the air, and soon enough, they were served steaming bowls of fish soup. The broth was rich, infused with tantalizing spices, and the fish itself was tender and succulent. With practiced ease, Oriana deftly navigated the delicate bones, her fingers moving in smooth, swift motions.
“This is absolutely delicious!” she exclaimed, looking over at Micah, her eyes sparkling with delight.
“Thanks,” he replied, taking a bite, though a hint of bittersweet regret lingered at the corner of his mouth. “I should have taken care of this myself.”
Oriana chuckled softly, a teasing glint in her eye. “You might be good at many things, but fish bones? That’s a job I’ll gladly handle. All those professional classes I took weren’t for nothing—I can pick bones like a pro.”
Micah smiled at her, the warmth in his gaze revealing his admiration for her skills.
“By the way,” Oriana continued, her curiosity piqued, “how did you manage to kick so accurately just now? Kieran didn’t even try to stop you.”
“I didn’t really think about it,” Micah admitted, chewing thoughtfully on the fish she had served him. “The kick just sort of happened. Guess I got lucky.”
For a brief moment, Oriana froze in surprise—he had executed that kick without aiming? That was quite impressive.
Micah’s expression shifted slightly as he added a gentle warning, “Just remember, don’t take matters into your own hands next time.”
Oriana nodded, her teasing smile still in place. “I know, I thought it through. I just saw that the girl was young and confused, and I couldn’t bear to let her go astray.”
“Sometimes, a helping hand can change the course of things,” Micah acknowledged, his voice steady. He understood that Oriana had her own decisions to make; his role was to support her quietly from the sidelines.
After they finished their meal, they took a leisurely stroll, picking up some everyday items for Noah before heading back. Each step felt light, the earlier tension dissipating with every shared glance and soft laugh.
Meanwhile, Kieran had taken Henley to the police station; after filing the report, he had left, his mind preoccupied with the events of the day.
Soon after, Luna stormed into the police station, her fury palpable as she arrived to post Henley’s bail.
As they emerged from the station, Henley couldn’t help but grumble at Luna for what he perceived as her slowness, pushing her temper to the brink.
“Henley, that credit card wasn’t meant for you to pull this kind of nonsense! Were you trying to get me killed?” Luna’s voice was sharp, her anger bubbling over. The card, a gift from Ethan, had barely seen any use in her hands. She would never have lent it to Henley if not for his insatiable greed, which had demanded money almost immediately. She hadn’t expected it to land her in such serious trouble.
