**He Returned to Break and Own Me and for His Queen**
**Chapter 233: Between Two Worlds**
Without a moment’s hesitation, Oriana ended the video call, her finger hovering over the screen for just a second before she pressed the button.
Luna, witnessing this abrupt termination, let out a wail that echoed in the quiet room, her breath hitching in her throat. “Grant, what am I supposed to do now? I think Oriana’s even more upset than before…” Her voice broke, each word laced with panic and distress.
Grant’s expression darkened, a storm brewing behind his calm facade. He felt the weight of his own frustration, but right now, his priority was to soothe Luna’s spiraling emotions. “You need to stop overthinking this. Your health has to come first,” he urged, his tone steady, though his mind raced with thoughts of Oriana.
“Okay…” Luna’s response was a mere whisper, a shaky sigh escaping her lips as she wiped her tears with a feigned air of composure. She leaned against Grant’s chest, seeking comfort in his presence. After a brief pause, she casually inquired, “Grant, do you know who Oriana’s husband is? Does he work at the research center too?”
She continued, more to herself than to him, “We all thought she just married some random guy, but who could have predicted he’d go all out with those extravagant Juliet roses? And now he’s even managed to get her, an outsider, into a place like the research center? He must hold a significant position there, right?”
Grant felt a flicker of irritation at the mention of Micah Caldwell. “To have that kind of wealth and influence at his age? Only mid-to-senior level folks get to flaunt their power like that,” she mused, her voice tinged with disbelief.
He dismissed the thought of Micah with a scoff, his disdain evident. “He’s just some guy who got lucky by riding on his family’s coattails—nothing worth discussing,” he retorted, his tone dripping with contempt.
“Really…? Then I guess Oriana must’ve lost her mind back then. Maybe she was just trying to save face in front of you, finding someone in the same field as a cover,” Luna speculated, her brow furrowing in thought.
Grant pressed his lips into a thin line, his eyes clouded with a mix of emotions—anger, jealousy, and something deeper that he couldn’t quite place.
Oriana had only ended the call because she noticed Cah getting up. Had he not stirred, she would have continued her playful jabs, relishing in the chaos that had unfolded.
She quickly approached him, her voice laced with urgency. “Did you manage to fix the issue?”
Micah, as if he had an innate sense for her presence, effortlessly intertwined his fingers with hers, holding her wrist with a gentle yet firm grip. “Yeah, all sorted,” he replied casually, his eyes glinting with satisfaction. “Was that a call I just heard?”
Oriana let out a chuckle, her mood lightening slightly. “Oh, it was nothing serious. Luna woke up to the realization that her reputation was in shambles, so now she’s pretending to have amnesia to apologize to me in front of Grant. Zara totally predicted this ridiculous drama.”
Micah’s brow furrowed slightly, a flicker of concern crossing his face. “You shouldn’t waste your time on people like that,” he advised, a hint of protectiveness in his tone.
“I wasn’t planning on it, but honestly? I had nothing else to fill my time, and watching her act like a clown was surprisingly entertaining,” Oriana admitted, a mischievous smile playing on her lips.
Once you shift your perspective, watching Luna put on a show can actually be quite the source of amusement when boredom strikes.
Micah’s expression softened, a hint of regret creeping in. “That’s on me. I didn’t realize you’d be left with nothing to do. I should have arranged for someone to show you around.”
Oriana waved his concern away dismissively. “Please, don’t worry about it. Your coworkers are far too enthusiastic for my taste. I can’t handle that level of energy.”
Micah chuckled softly, the sound warm and comforting.
