**TITLE: He Returned to Break and Own Me and for His Queen**
**Chapter 46: The Fight**
Early the next morning, the sun was just beginning to rise, casting a golden hue over the world. Oriana had just finished a pleasant breakfast with Micah, enjoying the warmth of their conversation and the comfort of familiar company. The laughter still echoed in her mind as Kieran arrived to drive her to school, his presence a steady anchor in her busy life.
“Kieran, just drop me off on that street up ahead,” she instructed, her voice carrying a hint of determination.
The sprawling campus gate of Jindiwood University Medical College was still a few hundred feet away, but she felt the need to distance herself from the luxurious vehicle.
“Mrs. Caldwell, outside vehicles are allowed to enter the school grounds,” Kieran replied, his tone polite yet firm.
“I understand,” Oriana said, offering him a small, reassuring smile. “But driving a Maybach onto campus feels a bit too flashy for my taste.”
A flicker of understanding crossed Kieran’s face, and he looked momentarily apologetic. “That was careless of me. I’ll switch to another car at noon so Mrs. Caldwell won’t feel awkward about it.”
“Thank you,” Oriana replied, appreciating his thoughtfulness.
With that, she stepped out of the car, the crisp morning air invigorating her as she walked toward the campus of Jindiwood University Medical College. The atmosphere buzzed with anticipation, the promise of a new beginning hanging in the air.
As she approached the logistics office, her mind wandered to the tasks ahead. Before she could officially start her role as a teaching assistant, she needed to collect her laptop and staff ID card to access the campus network. However, as she entered the office, she was met with a scene that immediately piqued her interest.
Inside, a heated argument was unfolding. A group of men had cornered a young woman, their voices rising in frustration.
“Graduate members can’t just take a school-issued laptop without submitting a prior application. That’s not how it works,” the logistics student declared, her expression a mix of irritation and resolve.
“The rules may be rigid, but people aren’t,” the lead male student countered, his arrogance palpable. “Our member came early and needs it now. I’ll write up the form later and have the professor sign it. What’s the big deal about taking it first?” His tone dripped with entitlement.
The girl stood her ground, her voice firm. “No. Today, the Traditional Medicine Department has a new teaching assistant. This laptop is reserved for her. You can’t take it.”
“Traditional Medicine Department?” The guy scoffed, laughter erupting from the men beside him. “That dead-end department actually has someone eager to be a TA? Must have lost her mind.”
“Exactly! What’s so great about Traditional Medicine? All they do is fiddle with herbs and run tests. Why act so high and mighty? Getting the laptop a day later won’t kill anyone. Why not give it to our junior?” one of his friends chimed in, their disdain evident.
“Right. A TA just runs errands, grabs coffee, and takes attendance. We’re the ones doing actual research. Every second counts. If the school wants to maximize resources, we should get priority.”
The girl’s shoulders slumped slightly under the weight of their words, but she shook her head defiantly. “No, it’s not right. You can’t do this.”
“Hey, which department are you from? Looks like you don’t know what’s good for you,” one of the men sneered.
“James, stop wasting time. Just sign for it,” another urged impatiently.
Panic flickered in the girl’s eyes as she tried to block their path. “You can’t do that.”
