My Reborn Admirer Wins Over My Heart novel Chapter 77

**TITLE: He Returned to Break and Own Me and for His Queen**
**Chapter 77: A Calculated Favor**

Micah sat in the dimly lit room, his attention fixed on the text-to-speech message that echoed through the silence. As the synthesized voice delivered the words, his lips pressed into a tight line, a sign of the storm brewing within him.

His thumb glided over the phone’s screen, hesitating for a moment before he decisively tapped the button to record a voice reply. “Don’t worry about me. Enjoy your meal. Have Kieran pick you up when you’re done.” With a flick of his finger, he sent the message off, the sound of the notification fading into the background.

Across from him, an elderly man lounged with an air of casual disregard, his legs crossed on the ornate wooden chair that seemed far too grand for his slouched posture. The man cracked open an eyelid, curiosity piqued by the exchange he had just overheard.

After observing Micah for what felt like an eternity, William Harris couldn’t contain himself any longer. “Micah, you can’t be serious. Is that gentle voice message you just sent to the teaching assistant you so fervently tried to push onto me?”

A faint smile tugged at Micah’s lips, his silence answering the question more than words ever could.

William’s expression morphed into one of disbelief and indignation. “I knew it! It all makes sense now! I was puzzled as to why an ungrateful brat like you, who ditched medicine for technology, would suddenly take it upon himself to recommend a ‘promising prodigy’ to me. So, it turns out you’re just using me as a backdoor, huh?!”

Micah’s long, thick eyelashes lowered slightly, yet his demeanor remained unruffled. “I didn’t abandon it halfway. It was you, Mr. Harris, who advised me to withdraw.”

William’s face contorted in frustration. “You treat patients like lab rats during practicals! Who could endure your… your dreadful attitude?” He shook his head, the memories clearly painful. “Just three days! I only took you to Jindiwood Hospital for three days of observation! How many patients did you actually see? And you managed to rake in double the complaints! For heaven’s sake, you weren’t there to treat people; you were driving them to an early grave!”

His voice grew louder with each word, anger fueling his tirade. “So many families complained about your horrendous attitude and rough handling. And what did you, you little punk, say? ‘If you can’t stand it, leave’? I ask you, if you had shown even a fraction of that… softness you just displayed in that message, would we have had all those problems?”

As the verbal assault continued unabated, Micah calmly raised a hand, lightly pinching his earlobe in a gesture that spoke volumes of his indifference. “Not possible.”

William leaned forward, incredulous. “What did you say?”

“I only have patience for her. For others? Impossible.”

With a heavy sigh, William closed his eyes and leaned back in his chair, exasperation etched on his features. Deep down, he felt a profound disappointment, yet he was powerless to change the course of events.

Micah was nothing short of brilliant. When he had first been brought before William years ago, it had taken mere moments for William to recognize the raw potential radiating from the young man—a true prodigy in every sense. Micah absorbed knowledge like a sponge, grasping concepts with an ease that left others in awe, his ability to extrapolate ideas nothing short of extraordinary.

Yet, alongside this brilliance lay a tempest of flaws—his temper was notorious, and emotional deficits marred his interactions. William understood that these traits were part and parcel of Micah’s condition. The universe, it seemed, had a way of balancing gifts with burdens; such high intelligence often came at a steep price.

However, William had never anticipated that Micah would be so utterly dreadful in clinical practice, lacking any semblance of restraint. If he couldn’t handle patient care, perhaps he could excel in research? But even then, Micah struggled with teamwork, plagued by a myriad of fastidious quirks that made collaboration nearly impossible.

William had been at his wit’s end until Micah had suddenly declared his intent to leave medicine behind for other pursuits. William hadn’t pressed him, allowing the matter to fade into the background.

Never in his wildest dreams did he imagine that this reclusive, eccentric young man would turn out to be… a lovesick fool.
