It isn’t difficult to tell that Mack is upset with Mother’s message and I tangle my hand in his hair to put him closer to me, allowing him to inhale my scent. His arms wrap around my waist and I feel him relaxing in my arms, damn what will it be like when our bond is completely formed. “At this raid our bond will be complete in a few days and we will be marked before we have to attend that funeral.” Fortune says and I smile at her as she looks at me with a smug look in her eyes.

There is no reason, I can think of, for me to attend Diablo’s funeral and I can’t find one as to why Mother wants me to attend. If Diablo had planned on forcefully marking me he would have been in for a surprise and seeing the fact I never met him or his Father I don’t understand why Mother wants me to be there. I send her a message asking that same question and her reply makes Fortune lose her shit, nearly forcing a shift.

“Calm down, Angel.” Mack says as his hands start moving up and down my back and Fortune calms down enough for me to get control back. “Mother says that Alpha Bradley wants me to be present at the funeral, he wants us to show that we are a family and he wants us to say goodbye to Diablo as a family.” I tell Mack as I lean my head against his chest, I need him as much as he needed me a little while ago. “I will be going with you.” He says and I know there is no point in arguing with him.

Hell, I don’t even want to argue with him about it. I want him to come with me and I don’t care if Mother agrees with it or not, I would have asked him to come with me if we weren’t Mates. Normally every Alpha gets an invitation to the funeral of a high–ranking Wolf or Lycan and if one gets send here my Alphas will be right there with me and Mack.

“What will you do with your assignment now?” Elyse asks. “I will carry it out in due time. Alpha Bradley will be looking over his shoulder for a long time and I will patiently wait until he relaxes again. When that day arrives I will start planning on taking him out, I can be very patient if I have to and for some assignments I have waited for years to take down my target. My clients are aware of the fact that I determine when the target dies and I have never failed them.” I answer her.

“Maleah, do you expect a visitor?” Dillon asks and as I shake my head I see a movement behind Mack, “Oh, fuck. Harvey, what the fuck are you doing here?” I say as I get up, but it isn’t easy with Mack still holding on to me and after I open the window Harvey jumps in. “Sorry, to crash your party. I thought it be best to deliver this message myself.” Harvey says as he looks around the room and his eyes widen when he sees Mack’s hands on my hips.

“Congratulations, Lady Boss.” He says. “Someone put a price on your head.” He says without any warning and Mack pulls me behind him while Harvey raises his hands in the air. “I am not after her, I will die protecting her. Word on the street is that Alpha Bradley put a price on the head of the Angel of Death, preferably dead.” He says and I turn around to wrap Mack in my arms, we need each other to calm down.

When Harvey tells us the amount that is put in my head I know many Wolves and Lycans will try to find out who the Angel of Death is, “Harvey, make sure everyone understands I want them to be extra careful. Someone might set up a bogus assignment to get to the Angel of Death and I don’t want any of you to pay the ultimate price for the job you do, no one goes out on his or her own until this threat is over.” I say as I look at Harvey.

“Consider it done, Lady Boss. I will ask Pauline to team us up, we will inform her on where we are going and arrange a check–in time. If an assignment feels off we will triple check everything before we act.” Harvey says before he walks out of the office and in seconds he is gone. “Should I tell the Warriors to leave him alone?” Dillon asks and I tell him that Harvey will be out of the territory before he can tell the Warriors through the mind–link to leave him alone.
