I hear her heartbeat settle down just before she collapses and Conri is fast enough to catch her. Like we discussed he places her on Mylo’s back and Jasper is already by our side, we don’t waste time as we run towards the border. Conri and Alexia will not be far behind us and the rest will make sure we don’t run into trouble.

On the way over to White Horn Pack we took our time, but right now we are running at full speed and I know Jasper will do anything to keep his Sister safe. I know I won’t breath easily until I have Umayza back at the cottage and everyone else is there to protect her.

Jasper guides me towards the last cottage and I try to head towards the cottage we have all stayed in, but he keeps pushing Mylo in the other direction. Mylo seems to trust him for some reason and follows him to the last cottage of the ones we rented.

Before I can blink my eyes Jasper has given control back to Orion and he quickly grabs sweat pants to put them on, he takes Umayza from my back. Mylo returns control to me and after I have put on some sweat pants as well, I take Umayza from Orion’s arms.

He gestures for me to remain quiet as he opens the door and once the door is closed he whispers, “Calliope is here, I can smell my friend Malik.” I quickly link the others to inform them about our guests and Theron tells me they have it covered.

A few minutes later Conri and Armand quietly make their way into the cottage and I am finally able to breath more easily. Ruckus from the front of the cottage makes me crawl to one of the windows and I have to restrain myself from laughing.

Alexia is chasing Theron with what looks like a bucket of water and he keeps yelling “Baby, I already said I’m sorry.” Orion stares at me with a twinkle in his eyes and I know he will remind Theron of this every chance he gets. The moment they are in the center of the cottages I see movement near the cottage Conri, Umayza and I spend the night.

Before I can ask or say anything I see Yonatan and Boris take down a female and a moment later Tarja and Callen walk into view also holding onto another female, but what surprises me is the giant behind them holding on to two grown Wolves as if he is handling two Pups.

The two females are staring daggers at him and a smile in Orion’s face makes me realize that this must be Malik. Soon Blaze and Axel join them with a subdued Wolf and that seems to be Armand’s signal to walk out the front door with a bag that contains silver chains and cuffs.

Malik grabs the chains from the bag and in a matter of minutes the three Wolves have silver chain around their necks, making them shift back to their Human form. Once all of them are wearing silver chains and cuffs I can breathe again, Umayza is still unconscious on the couch and the rapid movement of her eyes tells me she is processing everything she saw.

I am glad I don’t have a gift like this, I am not sure if I would be able to deal with it and to think there was a time I was jealous of Werewolves and Lycans that possessed a gift. I think I am starting to understand why some refer to an ability as a curse instead of a gift.

Conri is sitting in front of the couch with his head on Umayza’s chest, I lift her head to put it on my lap as I sit down and Orion curls up near her feet before he drifts off to sleep.

Theron linked us the moment he smelled strangers near our cottages and I was worried about Evander, Umayza and Orion, they might not have smelled them in their hurry to get back to the cottage. A sight of relief escaped my lips when Evander told us through the mind–link that he and Orion were in a different cottage with Umayza.

That Orion had smelled his friend and had been able to steer Mylo in a different direction. Armand and I went to the cottage to keep an eye out for trouble and Alexia had asked Theron to help her with a diversion, but what I saw was the last thing I had expected.

I am grateful that Malik decided to help us instead of Calliope and now she is finally in the Council’s custody, I just hope they will have enough on her and Wenonah to keep them locked up for the rest of their lives. I slowly drift off to sleep with my head on her chest.

Someone shaking my shoulder wakes me from an amazing dream and it is that I hear Evander’s voice calling my name or I might have allowed Kane to lash out at the Idiot waking us. “Conri, wake up. Council- member Boaz is here and he wants to talk to us.” Evander says.

I kiss her forehead before I get up and I see Alexia and Blaze sitting in armchairs, watching Umayza as she is softly whimpering. Kane hates seeing her like this, but she explained it was her mind’s way of processing the memories.

I was relieved when she explained she only went through the emotions of a memory once, that she was able to recount the memories without reliving the emotions again and she doesn’t relive the emotions right now as her mind tries to make sense out of everything she has seen.

None of us knows how long this will take, but I will make sure she has all the time she needs to process everything and if that means staying here for a few more days than that is what I will do. Kane hates he has to leave her side, but he knows the Council has questions.

The faster we deal with this the faster we can go back to our little Mate and we both hope she wakes up before or during the days of the Full Moon, not that it will matter to us. Evander and I will wait for as long as we have to, but for our Lycans it would be best if we can mark her as soon as possible.

I am surprised to see Council–member Boaz here with a large group of Royal Warriors and I wonder how he got here so fast, Armand couldn’t have called him more than an hour and half ago. Maybe they were on their way to another issue, but with the smug look on his face I doubt it.

“Alexia, Blaze, can the two of you keep an eye on Umayza and Orion?” I ask them. “Council–member Boaz will want to know how we got to this point and I need to know no one can get to Umayza.” Alexia and Blaze just nod their heads before they walk into the cottage.

I know they will protect her with their lives, it isn’t just the oath they took it is also that Umayza is their friend and I am grateful for the friends she has in her protection detail. “Who is Orion?” Council–member Boaz asks and I tell him I will explain it the moment Conri is here as well.

Once we are all outside Council–member Boaz orders the Warriors to take the prisoners to the SUV’s and I tell him to leave Calliope and Wenonah here as they might want to hear this as well. Calliope and Wenonah stare daggers at Malik, but he just stares back at them without giving away anything.

Council–member Boaz knows who Orion is and what his connection is to Umayza, but he doesn’t know the connection between Calliope and Orion or what kind of work Orion has been into ever since he was a teenage Wolf. I had talked to Orion about the Council having questions about how we found out about Calliope.
