York looked down at Ethan James hugging his leg and calling him "Daddy," and his face went completely black.

He never imagined Claudia would go so far as to bring Ann James and her son into their home.

Rock Sayer gasped in shock at the sight of the little boy.

He jumped behind Claudia like a spooked monkey, pointing at Ethan. "Claudia, is that the little monster your husband had with that ugly creature?"

Claudia shot Rock Sayer a warning look. "Master Sayer, don't talk nonsense. My husband's son isn't ugly at all."

Peter couldn't hold it in any longer and burst out laughing.

Ann clenched her fists, glaring at Rock Sayer but not daring to say anything.

She carefully observed York's expression, then walked over to him. "York, Mrs. Ferguson invited us over. I hope we're not disturbing you."

York pushed the child away, his eyes flashing with a cold light as he looked at Ann.

He turned and pulled Claudia aside, hissing, "Claudia, what the hell are you trying to do?"

Claudia cleared her throat, her tone blunt. "You know exactly who they are. So what's with the drama?"

York's dark eyes were fixed on her, searching for any reaction.

"So," he ground out, "this is the surprise you were talking about?"

Claudia nodded earnestly. "Look, you always have to sneak around like a thief to see them, terrified that your grandfather will find out. Now that I've taken the boy as my godson, your son can call you 'Daddy' openly, without having to worry about who might hear."

York's face was a mask of utter disbelief.

He stared at her as if he couldn't believe what he was hearing.

"Claudia, do you have any idea what you're doing?" he asked.

She patiently tried to soothe him. "York, don't react like this. It's not the first time the boy has called you Dad. If anyone questions it, just say he's my godson. You can push all the blame onto me."
